Ode to the sorting hat.

so ragged, frayed, old, and distorted
poor sorting hat that is always neglected
only brought out once a year sorting the kids into the four houses griffondor, slytherin, hufflepuff, and ravenclaw
and only getting to stay out for at least an hour
before it has to go back into the head minister office

well I'll tell you what i think
of that poor old sorting hat
since the day the sorting was founded i always thought
that we should have a day
were all we do is celebrate it
a day where all you do in every class
is learn about the history of the sorting hat
in one class you learn of the making of him
next you learn about his acheivements
learn about his first few years and more

Um.. it's good. But, you spelled some words wrong. It's good though! (I hate a four rating, but SORRY!)

I like the idea of having a day celebrating the sorting hat but I have rated this 5 because of the grammar and spelling mistakes - most noticeably the misspelling of Gryffindor.

Nice one,
Could use a few rimes but over all looks good.

I like your thoughts about the sorting hat. Very true indeed.
You want to watch your spelling/typos though, ie head master not minister, or gryffindor...

I really loved your idea about the 'sorting hat day'. It would be interesting to learn about the sorting hat, how it was made and such. But I think that the poem did not flow freely and might be much better enjoyed if it did. I greatly admire your courage to do this.

Really liked the beginning of this poem; very descriptive, I could picture the sorting hat in my mind as I read through the rest of the poem. I also like the idea of learning about the history of the sorting hat; I think that would be interesting.

This was a very nice ode to the sorting hat. :)

It's good that you part your poem into two seperate parts; one that tells about the duty of the hat and another where you tell us what you think the sorting hat deserves for its excellent work. It makes the poem more readable.

A few spelling errors here and there, but I think you did a great job here! :)

I really like the feeling and ideas in your poem. The imagery at the beginning is especially nice. If you wanted to make it really great, you could check through for spelling errors and such, but your effort really shines through!

A slap-dash job. Poor spelling, no capitalization, obvious mistakes ("head minister", instead of headmaster). I don't mind that it doesn't rhyme, but it has no rhythm. The end seems very repetetive.

I'll give you a 1 for an attempt, but sadly this is a bad poem I have read.

I think you need to work on your english grammer and punctuation.

Also you may need to re-read your HP books and get the facts right because its Headmaster, not "Minister"

I like the idea of a Sorting Hat day! This is nice, but it would have been better if you used uppercase letters (especially with "i") and maybe included some more rhythm in how it is written.

An ode is "a lyric poem typically of elaborate or irregular metrical form and expressive of exalted or enthusiastic emotion." I see the irregular metrical form, but there is no emotion in this poem. All you're saying is that we don't see the Sorting Hat but once a year, and you wish there would be a class to learn more about it. There are a few spelling mistakes also.

I can see where you're going with this. Great start! Unfortunately, you didn't capitalize at the beginning of each line, and you should remember to capitalize your I's. And there are some minor spelling mistakes.

well, that's intersting. you wrote in the poem what you think that should be done in honor of the hat.
but i do think that for an ode, you could have wrote it in a more "odey" way.
