Wow, this is the best topic EVER... It's perfect for me and my silly name. NO ONE can spell it right, and I doubt they can say it. So, here goes:
Astraea: Ahs-tray-ah (the r in the "tray" is kinda rolled, so it doesn't actually sound like "chray")
Candidus: Cahn-dee-doos (the d's have a very slight "th" after it.)
You know, I think the pronunciation guide has just made it more confusing... oh my.
/blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
Have fun, darlings...

The nice thing about having the HP Audio books is that Jim Dale pronounced everything the way it should be.
Her-My-Oh-Nee
Bow-Bah-Tons
Etc.
So I never have a problem pronouncing any of the stuff! *dances* /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

My name is a pain. Yes a pain. But I still love it. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
Spelling: Moiraine Katsumi Lee
Moiraine is pronounced MWAH-rain (MWAH as in 'Moi' me in French) and Raine as in rain. Not MO-raine, My-raine, or anything. Moiraine. Simple? Nope. It's from the Wheel of Time Series.
Katsumi is simply Kat-sue-me. Kat as in cat and sumi as in 'sue me.'
Lee is simply Lee. No explaination required.

Mines pretty easy and I hardly even have to post here, but just in case some find it hard, it's MAH-rie th-EENS (Thenes rhymes with themes).
So there you have it!

The only name I ever really had trouble pronouncing was Voldemort (I pronounced it with the t), but I found a site with the audio pronunciation, so I know now that his name derives from French, therefore there is no t.
My name...well...I'm an Authurian Legend buff. The name is derived from one of my favorite character: Morgan le Fey.
Morgaine: mor-GAIN
Fey: exactly the way it sounds
I don't think I'll EVER get used to knuts being pronounced as k-newts. I just pronounced it nuts....

Well my name, JoAnna Drakon, isn't too terribly hard to understand.
JoAnna is easy enough, I would think. The capital 'A' should give you some indication that it's pronounced like two seperate names. Jo + Anna = JoAnna. Sort of like MaryAnne or something.
Drakon is a bit harder. The Dra is pronounced, draw, minus the 'w'. And -kon is... well it's sort of like conartist. So, simply, it's draw-con. Once again without the 'w.' JoAnna Drakon.
Now if you excuse me, I feel like I'm talking to a four year old.

Slight change to my name: my middle name is no longer Galadriel (suddenly everyone and their dog is called Galadriel).
It is now Imbeiavasiel. So my new name would
be pronounced in this way:
Reh-lay-knee Im-bay-ah-vah-see-el Dahr-see.
You all have such beautiful names, by the way. I had no idea Layelle was Lie-el. ::blushes::

My name is pretty simple. But I might confuse you with how to REALLY pronounce it and how I pronounce it. Here it is:
How to really pronounce it:
Hay-Mo-Lay-Lay Hurl-ee
How I pronounce it:
He-Mo-Lay-Lay Hurl-ee
Now, just so everyone knows, Hemolele is Hawaiian for 'Pure'. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
Hope that clears everthing up, bye!
