Seven Sisters by Lucinda Riley (2014) 18+
Lassie Come Home by Eric Knight (1942)
8-12+

These two books were written 73 years apart, with Lassie having been written during the Second World War years, and Seven Sisters covering the pre-war years through to more contemporary times. So what connection ties these books together? The theme of Belonging. Lassie, the collie dog, already knows where she belongs-with her human family. Unfortunately for her, she has been taken away from her loving home, and so her quest is to successfully find a way to escape her new surroundings and begin the arduous journey of finding her way back home to those she loves. On the other hand, the Seven Sisters protagonist, Maia, happy with the family she has grown up with, along with her other five adopted siblings, has been presented with an opportunity to begin the quest of tracing back her lineage to discover where she originally came from and who her real parents are.
