The best headmaster

Post by Emerald Wolvenhowl »

In the books and films of Harry Potter, Professor Dumbledore is often considered to be wise. Also, many students and staff think that he is a good headmaster but what do you think? Do you think that he is the best headmaster or are your opinions similar to those who are not impressed by him such as Draco Malfoy?

I think he was a great Headmaster tho very intriguing and secretive - he had his reasons of course.
He always did what was best for the students and that was admirable, and he was also very ambitious but I feel like he didn't spend much time with the students.
I must admit I'm glad the successor was Prof. McGonagall because I feel like she had more interaction with everyone and has a firm position and a humble and noble heart :)

I'm not sure that know of enough of the other Heads to make that decision. He was obviously intelligent but manipulative, and I don't know that I would have wanted him in charge of mine or my child's well being.

While I think Dumbledore is a good headmaster, I would not necessarily call him the best. Out of those still living during the course of the series, I would argue that Minerva McGonagall is the better one of the four. She cares for the students and although she is slightly Gryffindor-biased (she is their Head of House after all), McGonagall genuinely cares for all of the students of Hogwarts, and the staff.

Dumbledore, meanwhile, is incredibly manipulative. While that is not a bad quality when it comes to being a headmaster, I do not think a person has a child's best interests at heart when they leave a defenseless baby on the front steps of the family about whom you know are not the kindest people. Not to check in even once until the child's 11th year (presumably) and after the abuse is confirmed, still leave them there. Yes, yes, blood and love magic, but I refuse to believe that an abused child would call the place/person a home/family for so long in order for the magic to hold.
