I was reading your post on my phone so only saw ONE sentence part at a time and was 'WHAT?!' reading that first quote!
Which fandom is that from??? I was immediately thinking Doctor Who but that's because I'm finally watching the Doctor Who series ....
Anyway, LoTR stuff:
Is that from the introduction part, the narrator speaking, when that great war was fought and it seemed that victory was near but then Sauron comes striding in in his great (ugly) armor? (And proceeds to wreck mayhem amongst the 'good guys' but suffers a reversal of fortune and loses his Ring amongst other things?)

Is that Gimli trying to get through his cross country running when he, Aragorn and Legolas are searching for Merry and Pipin? Around the same time as the quote, he also says something about Dwarfs being good sprinters or something (I think)

Yep
The full quote was as follows:
Frodo: Go back, Sam. I'm going to Mordor alone.
Sam: Of course you are. And I'm coming with you.

That is such a perfect sort of thing that Samwise would say. (1)
Okay -- this is easy peasy but I like it:
"It's working!"
"I know it's working! Run!"
(1) I went and looked it up in the book, because I remembered something ... something ...
"But I am going to Mordor.'
'I know that well enough, Mr. Frodo. Of course you are. And I'm coming with you.
'Now, Sam,' said Frodo, 'don't hinder me! The others will be coming back at any minute. If they catch me here, I shall have to argue and explain, and I shall never have the heart or the chance to get off. But I must go at once. It's the only way.'
'Of course it is,' answered Sam. 'But not alone. I'm coming too, or neither of us isn't going. I'll knock holes in all the boats first.'

Well, hoping it is easy peasy I believe it is Merry and Pippin jumping up and down and shouting, trying to distract the Orcs so that Frodo and Sam can escape across the river. It's the scene just before the scene quoted above (I think).

So after much mental visualisation I *think* it is Pippin who says "It's working" and Merry who says "I know it's working! Run!"
