Legolas said this to Gimly on the walls of Helm's deep. Poor gimly could not look over the walls and nudged Legolas to describe to him what was happening. This was Legolas' answer.

I know I know I know!!!

Legolas has just taken down the elephant creature and all the persons on it -- an impossible feat.

Then he poses as the noble HERO OF THE DAY, the conqueror!.

And Gimli says that.

*ROTFL*

Absolutely awesomely perfect ....

"The world is changed ..."

It is Galadriel, saying that
"I feel it in the water I feel it in the earth. I smell it in the air. Much that once was is lost for none now live who remember it."

And that it probebly for the best considering Balros were quite common back then, and dragons and kinslayers.... But well.

*nods* *nods*

The world was quite different, as you say, so maybe it was a good thing that it was changing.

But to her, I would guess that it was also of a sadness, because the changes were indicating that the Elves would be leaving Middle Earth ....

Anyway!

Yes, that is it precisely.

You are being evil, Ronja!

Okay, I'm going for a guess ... since I've NO idea right now what it is from.

From the enthusiasm of the sentence, I'd guess it is a hobbit talking about food or drink, or Gimli talking about weapons. (I've noticed that most of the folks in LoTR really don't speak with much 'enthusiasm' ... ^_^ )

I'm going to guess that it is a HOBBIT speaking.

A hobbit speaking about getting another beer!

Where would that be? At a pub and I'll guess that it is Pippin saying it to Merry (since Pippin is about the most enthusiastic of the hobbits!)

I'm saying it's Merry to Pippin at Bilbo's party, after they set off the dragon firework. :D

OH so close :D

Tarma got the hobbit right, and Rachel the location....
I'd say Rachel's next...

Yeah, as soon as I read what Rachel wrote, I knew that was it.

(But still, Pippin IS the most enthusiastic of everyone in the whole book! YAY for PIPPIN!)

I think I have a Pippin avatar somewhere ... Cosmo gave it to me ....

I'm sorry for being late!
(Even though I could borrow Gandalf's line of "a HOLTS leader is never late, nor is s/he early, s/he arrives precisely when s/he means to :P )

Anyway, here's a new quote for you:

"Stars wheeled overhead and everyday was as long as a life-age of the earth."

It was Gandalf (version 2.0, now with bleach) telling the lot of them now he came back alive.

Arg! ARG! arg!

Darn it! I kept thinking 'elven' when reading that quote. Then when I saw Ronja's answer I knew immediately, and worse, remembered it -- that whole scene in Fangorn Forest with Aragorn and Gimli and Legolas and darn it anyway.

Good one, Ronja!
