Well my name came from another website I was surfing and I decided to make my character on there Welsh, my first name is really Rhiannon and Jones sounded more Welsh so I put that on the end instead of my real one. I like my name, it reflects one quarter of my nationality!

Well, I got my name a long way around. Mckeanna is a version of Mckinnon. Funny thing is that the Mckinnons were killed by You Know Who in the hp series. I figured that as a backstory to my HOL char I would change the name a bit and have her family have been hiding from You Know Who with the absent father as the secret keeper. I've always liked double letter names and somehow picked Melina as a whim. I ended up with Melina Mckeanna, though in retrospect I wish I had Kept Mckinnon as the surname.

Icarus Nazca was created as an extra character in a piece of HP fanfiction I was working on. (Can't be posted here due to rating. Ahem...) Anyway, I ended up really liking him, and I was proud of his name (I got it during Astronomy class, though I'm have to go back and look at my notes to figure out how.) When I first came to HOL, I knew that not taking the chance to bring Icarus to life would be...well, criminal.
It's really fun to play Icarus, because he and I are nothing alike. It's a good study both in acting, and in character development, and he's revealed to me things about his personality that I never would have discovered had he remained aa a fanfiction background character.

hmmm....i have a cool bit of history behind how i got my name:-)! /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
i have a very short term memory--i'm known for it!
i have a black labrador, who's name is Jinny.
so i choose my first name to be "Jinny"
second name....this was tricky....i thought it would be better if it pertained to Jinny too...so it came about to be barks.
Jinny Barks
see??? jinny=my dog, barks= he does, really! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

How did I come to be Sherry Black? Well, unfortunately my story is not nearly as interesting as Airemay's. My real life name is Sherry (I can't imagine people calling me something else- I'd be too confused!), and Sirius Black is one of my favorite characters in the HP series. I felt under pressure to choose a name when signing up for HOL, wasn't properly prepared to create a name, so that was the first thing that popped in my mind. And after a year of finding my niche here at HOL, I'm not about to change my name now! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
So, where did YOUR HOL name come from??
*makes self comfy in large overstuffed chair*
A few people from a group I used to belong to told me if I were a mythical creature, I would most likely be either a Chimera or Wyvern. Originally, I had narrowed down my choices to one or two names. Since I liked - Chimera Wyvern Whitecastle- the more, I chose it. Given the myths of both the Chimera and the Wyvern, it fits a Slytherin rather nicely.
This response is the long and the short of it.
Warmly,
Chimera

Kyna means Wise, and Aislinn means Inspiration.

Well, Niniel is a name made by Tolkien. He said it means 'maiden of tears', but that is only one interpretation.
'Nin' is the plural of 'nen' which means 'water'. When you put -iel at the end of a name you make the name feminine. 'Iell' also means 'Maiden' So I choose to interpret the name as meaning 'maiden of water'. This is because I love both water and blue which represents both water and the sky (and Ravenclaw of course: WooT) . Niniel is also the name I usually use online, so I'm used to use it, and it comes naturally to me.
Sanders is my grand-father's surname, which I don't share (long story).
PS: in case anyone who reads this speaks elvish: Yes, I know I took liberties with spelling, especially the accents.

Padmé came from Padmé Naberrie Amidala Skywalker in Star Wars. I fell in love with her name the first time I heard it, and I'm a Star Wars fan..
Undómiel came from Arwen Undómiel in Lord of the Rings. I thought it sounded cool with Padmé and I love the Elven-languages.
Besides it's a pretty good way to meet people who, like the same stuff, since they pick up on the names really fast.
It's a bit unoriginal, so when I picked I was actually a bit afraid it would already be taken, but I was lucky /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I chose Sophia for wisdom (because I hope that I'm working on wisdom, not because I think I'm wise, then I should've just went ahead and picked BigHead) and Manasa because I had read that she was an Indian goddess who protects people from snake bites (later to learn that she is in fact a snake goddess). But I'm sure you know what a wise man said about choices.

I chose Romulus because Lupin (who is one of my favorite characters) got his name from Remus and Romulus who supposedly founded Rome. They were raised by wolves and I just thought that Romulus sounded quite cool. Kohler is from Angels & Demons, a great book by Dan Brown. The character Kohler is one of my favorite characters in the book as well. That, and it worked well with Romulus.

How did I get my name?
Well, Emilor is a name made up of letters from my real first and middle names, and MacKinnon is a name in my family that I like. Also, there are McKinnons in the Harry Potter books. My family used McKinnon in the States, but now that I've moved to Canada I decided to put the "a" back in. They do that here. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Layla is from an Arabic word, meaning "dark beauty" and Nyoka has African origins, meaning snake. I felt it would be a fitting name for a Slytherin /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> !
