Oh, I'm a firm believer that the holidays should be celebrated in the month of, granted that it's at the end of the month and not the beginning. If you have practically an entire month to set up decorations, then why must you do so early? But I understand it can be a pain, and where I live, some people don't even take the decorations down —just unplug and deflate them until the holiday returns the following year. I tend to decorate the month of, but I don't do too much either.

I'm more lenient on people starting to set up early, but I draw the line at parades and other public celebrations. There is absolutely no reason that a Christmas parade should take place in November! My town has a nasty habit of celebrating it in mid-November, and it drives me insane.

I really hate when stores put out their Christmas decorations out super early. I don't mean at the beginning of November, I'm talking about at the beginning of October looking at you Menard's.

I mean, I also dislike them being out at the beginning of November but that's not as egregious to me since a lot of people do need quite a bit of time to get all their decorations out of storage and set up (as well as checking to see if anything that has lights needs new ones). But seeing Christmas decorations one aisle over from the Halloween decorations really rustled my jimmies lol

I will say, most other stores did wait until closer to Halloween to put some decorations out but that's still annoying lol and I'm very lucky that my area does leave Christmas "celebrations" to after Thanksgiving with the small exception of having Santa Claus at the end of the Thanksgiving parade (obviously not as big as the Macy's parade, but its a good sized one).

I think the only thing I'll let get away with being done early are Christmas card photos. Sometimes you gotta do those in June so you know you have the perfect photo for the card you send out in November (so you know it gets there by Christmas hahaha).

I hate that all celebrations seem to start so early, and I'm not even being particularly Scrooge-y. All of my friends tell me they get quickly annoyed and crazy when Christmas songs start so early in the stores. Small blessings for me, I suppose.

For 'big' celebrations, I think starting the month of, as some suggested, is completely fine. For particular days of joke holidays or something not endemic to my country, even the week of it seems too much to me.

I do like to take advantage of early celebration or Black Friday/Cyber Monday to get gifts for Christmas and birthdays. :P
