Wow. These stories are pretty neat. Mine certainly didn't come from mythology or anything.
I was agonizing over my name for days, so after awhile I took out the phone book,
flipped to a random page, which happened to be "T," picked two names and strung
them together. Despite that, it's really not so bad. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
I was going to have my first name be Ginny (my real name and a harry potter character of course) but I wanted it to be more original

I always liked the name Felicia. It was the name of someone on a Soap Opera I use to watch, and she always had trouble following her. Not that I have touble following me. Well, maybe!
Hart came for another favorite TV show, Hart to Hart (yes I know I'm dating myself here). But I didn't like how Felicia Hart sounded so I tacked on the "wick", and there you go....... FELICIA HARTWICK.

i always wanted a sparkling, english name (my real name is nothing of it). and i love the celts. so when i started with hp-rpg, i browsed through my "celtic names for children"-book.

Emerald is derived from The Emerald Tablets of Thoth - you should do some research on it on the internet, very interesting story behind it. The Book of Thoth is said to have contained all the ancient wisdom - of course they had no letter printing back then (ages B.C.) so these were tablets. It was said to be copied and copied again, and the final copy had been destroyed as the Great Library of Alexandria - one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World - was burned down by the Romans.
Dybendahl I use for at least 10 years now. First I like the look and sound of the name, secondly it is always available on the web *g* - It goes back to Trude Dybendahl, a Norwegian cross-country skiier who had an exceptional fighting spirit - icicles hanging down her skin during a race, cause she did not even take the time to remove them *g* - The name is very uncommon in Norway as well, I got an email from a real Dybendahl once, saying that only five families in all of Norway have that name.

Lavendula Angustifolia is the botanical name for English Lavender.
(pronounced: Lav-AN-djew-luh An-gus-tih-FOE-lee-uh),
I had been drawn to the name Lavendula for quite some time. When I needed a last name for HOL, I couldn't think of anything to compliment it, so I perused the botanical names of different lavenders and settled on Angustifolia.
I can almost hear Hermione pronouncing it to Ron...it's An-gus-tih-FOE-lee-uh not An-gus-tih-foe-lee-UH.

Keely is an irish name that means beautiful. Ella means "Faery". Ulric means "Wolf- lover".
I have been attatched to the name Keely for 3 years now, since my character is half Faery, I chose Ella for the meaning, & my favorite animals of all time are wolves. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I'm sure I have the most original name! My own! *snickers* I wish... /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
Well, my first name is Raven (Ray-ven) and my last name is Delane (De-qua-nin, E is silent).
Just kidding it's pronounced Da-layne. As in 'That's da layne over there, it's called Mullberry. Sorry, my name's so borish, I had to say something weird. But I love my name and can't fathom not being Raven.
Ta,

Unlike the goodness-knows-how-many people who have fantastic made-up names, my HOL name is really my name. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" /> I decided that since HOL didn't seem to have that many people with Chinese surnames, I'd go ahead and sign up as me! Then I'd like, stand-out or something, since most of the HOLers have really long fancy names. Um... Haha!
Yes, it's no fairytale like story... But I like my own name! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

My name is rather obtuse at first glance. Nilmawen is Elvish, of origins so ancient the original meaning has been lost in my family. Cuen, my surname, is Sindarin - Sindar Elvish, which means literally "of the bow". I am but half-elven, so I am told. My people historically have been forest dwellers, but I think the original meaning of the name was derived from an ancestor of mine, Palancirithiel Cuen. He was in service to an Elven lord, and was in his career elevated to something akin to "Master of the Hunt" status. His fame as a stag hunter survives in his native lands to this day.
And... as many an ill-fated, Slytherin-robed student who has had the misfortune to walk under my window has discovered, I am following in my revered ancestor's footsteps. /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" /> I may not be much of a Quidditch player, but I dare anyone to beat me in a contest of archery.

Ok... I kinda made this name up for one of the stories I was about to write and decided that I'd rather keep it for myself. My full name would be Amatsu Hime Tenrai.... Amatsu means "heavenly" and Hime means "princess".... Tenrai was actually the last name of another of my characters named.... Kaikatsuto Tenrai... but, again, I liked the sound and kept it for myself /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" /> Anyways, Tenrai means "heaven sent" (Bah, hi Arashi, seems that we have very similar taste in names!), so my name is actually a little redundant... It means in whole... something like Heavenly Princess from the Heavens... See, redunadant... but I was having fun... /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

You have my real name!!!! O.o It's spelled "Faye" though. I always thought Fay/Faye/Fayette either meant:
1. high fidelity
2. faithful
3. faerie
4. friend of faeries
And it's listed as "French" under the baby name books... Or something like that.
I like my RL name - not too feminine or anything, and short. But I guess I'll add:
5. having mystical powers
I've never been completely satisfied with my HOL name - Leah Samson. I find out that "Leah" means "weary" in Hebrew, but I suppose it fits because I get tired, LOL. Samson, I don't know - I kind of went with Leah Samson when I first registered for FF.net (Don't read anything) and I needed to think up something, and it rang together so I kept it.
I want to change my name to something else, but I think that "Leah" has just stuck for too long now - I've got too many nicknames derived from Leah (i.e. Leahie, Leahbunny, Leahbear, Leahbee, Leahdoll, Leahbean, etc.)
But from now on, any site I sign up for, I use the name "Rhapsody". I like it - sometimes I change my nickname on IRC to Rhapsody, but people know it's me anyway. I've always been a fan of Gerswhin (Rhapsody in Blue) and Rhapsody also means "speaker, or a pretty speech" or something. I might start signing in as Rhapsody... Leah Samson will always be my official HOL name, though.
Whoa, must have bored you all... *g*
Glumbumble pie.
Mine's obvious to anyone who knows a bit of French or is a real cheese lover; I love cheese so Bria comes from Brie, one of my fave cheeses, and Chevre is a type of French cheese that sounds really cool. Yes, I know, I am a freak /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />
New person here.
Anyway, I chose my first name because I really like Lupin, and I thought that Lupa sounded more feminine. Also i read somewhere that Lupin meant Wolf, and I absolutely love wolves.
My middle name is from the Matrix.
And I just thought of Kettrall one night, don't really know how, I just did. And I thought it sounded nice.
Pretty boring compared to these other stories. But that's me.
