My name is not the most meaningful in the world. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
I'll start with my last name, cause it came first:
"Starshadow" is a combination of "Starfire" and "Moonshadow", who are characters in 2 very different books I used to love when I was little.
Illustra was just a name I made up because it sounded right.
Hey! I just realized something! "Starshadow" actually does mean something! In my muggle life, I have to "shadow" someone with a career I'm thinking about this year, and I want to be an actress.
So I'll be the shadow of a star.
Whoa. I even scare myself sometimes. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I chose my for a variety of reasons.
Lianna is the name of one of my favorite characters in a comic called 'A Distant Soil' by Colleen Doran.
Syanne is actually after the first amazon queen (I spelled it wrong. it should be Cyan. I did it on purpose though).
Travers is for no other reason then I was looking at an engrish site and saw 'mimiko travers to america to see big stars!' while typing in her last name.
I think I want to name a child of mine Syanne though. (pronounced sigh-anne).

I came up with my HOL name by two methods. My first name is really my first name, in real life. I know, boring, huh? Anyway, I just find it much, much easier for people to call me by my real name - I get confused easily as it is! :-)
For my last name, well, I just went with my favorite character. I am just really intrugued with Snape as a character. He just seems so complex and mysterious, and I think JK has him written brilliantly. So, that's how I came up with my last name.

Aletta Andromeda is a name of the main character of one of my storys. I found the name Aletta somewhere and it meant 'winged one' and Andromeda because... I thought it sounded interesting, it could mean Andromeda the princess rescuded by perceus (I think Andromeda means 'to think of a man') or the Galaxy that is the nearest beyond our own. /happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

I chose Mari Hunt as my name... Mari being the nickname that people usually call me, and Hunt because I like that last name..
It also comes from another fantasy book, in which there's an elf band named Wild Hunt (Nevernever by Will Shetterly), and I loved the book so much that I liked the idea of having Hunt as a last name.

I guess my name isn't really that interesting. Raik is my real middle name, and I like it much more than my first name, so I decided to go with it. Also, it's a name that feels more like "me" than if I just made up some random name.
Rainey...heh - I'm weird because I like rain. Rain is a good excuse to stay indoors in front of my PS2 or computer screen, so it's a good thing. Since I wasn't sure what last name to use, I just looked up some online name list and found all the names that had "rain" in them - it was Rainbow, Rainford, Raine...and Rainey, which I liked the most.
So here I am, with a name that is part me and part something I like. Heh.

My name was half chose by me, half chose by my hubby /wub.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="wub.gif" />
I always loved welsh names, so I asked him to pick a name that means what he sees or feels for me and he said: Ceri (short from Ceridwen) when I knew the meaning I felt really touched so that had to be my first.
Then came McHawk, of course is tatally linked to the animal: it brings me the perfect image of a fierce, freedom, figther, warrior: yes if I have to figure an icon for those qualities is it a hawk, which also links to a most than very special Name in my life (RL).
The Mc. was an addition to make the welsh word sound nice by the english one.
And my dear friends that was how came Ceri McHawk to life....

Its so sad /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> Everyone but me has an interesting story about their name. See, with my name I wasnt really thinking about naming myself after any of the characters. Now that I think about it I would love for my name to be Jessica Wood but of course I forgot when I signed up, how much I loved Oliver Wood. Anyways, the story behind my name is that jessica is my favorite name in the whole wide world even though it isnt my name. And Summers just seems like such a good last name. Also, Jessica just seemed like the only name I could get used to people calling me other than my real name. So thats the amazing story behind my name.

Now, let me see.... My real name is Cassandra but I always been called Andra since I was a little girl so I change the name to be a bit 'european' or something; then I came up with the name Andrea which I think is pretty good.
I tried to find a good surname then I found the surname 'Caroline' from the internet; I found out that the meaning is tough, brave hearted, and that sorts of kind so it really matches with my personality. Of course after I knew that I decided to use it! /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
That's the story!

Eliza, short for Elizabeth, is a character in the book I'm supposed to be reading, because my real name's Katie and I figured there'd be three hundred of us (turns out there are a lot of Elizas!). Ithil is the elvish word for Moon, for I am an enormous elvish mythology fan. I figured I'd mix it up a little, y'know, not just HP names (though some of them here are really neat!). So, that's where I got my name. Oh, and the moment I have enough money for an owl, I'm going to name her Mirime, which means "free"! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

My hol name came from a couple places. The first name Bridgette came from my real life name, which I'm very fond of. It means Strength of Mind.
Then Medwin I came up with after about 2 hours of a friend and I searching for a nice last name. Medwin meaning strong friend. Which fits me well also /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Hi Cristy!!Cristy Perez wrote:Well, Cristy is short for Cristina. and Perez, because it's a common last name here, and it's the first one I could think of at the moment.
I like your name! I actually had thought of going with something like Smith or Jones, myself, for the same reason - common last name - but then thought Snape would be a little more fun. But, I was worried that someone else would have it! I was really shocked to see no one had yet.
