Series: Renegades Trilogy
Author: Marissa Meyer
Genre: Science Fiction, Adventure Fiction
Synopsis:
Renegades was about two groups of people, the Anarchists (the "villains") and the Renegades (the "Superheroes"). This book really blurred the lines between good and evil and how both groups worked. It follows a girl named Nova who is a member of the Anarchists and harbors hatred towards the Renegades for not saving her parents from being killed even though a promise was made that they'd be protected. Her uncle, the leader of the Anarchists, took Nova after her family was killed and raised her with the Anarchists. When she gets older, she decided to change her identity and join the Renegades as a spy to provide the Anarchists with information about them. However, once she joins the Renegades, she finds herself unsure of which side she's on anymore. She makes many friends and tries to protect them even though she's technically supposed to kill them. It becomes even more complex because the Renegades are trying to track down 'Nightmare', Nova's identity as an Anarchist while Nova has to pretend to be finding her while keeping her identity a secret. Renegades was an amazing read and the storyline is never boring as you're constantly switching alliances with both the Anarchists and the Renegades throughout the storyline
