Favourite Genre?
If you're anything like me, you don't limit yourself to just one genre. But, that being said, everyone has their personal favourites. For me it would either be mystery or horror. What about you?

Re: Favourite Genre?
Such a simple question, but so hard to answer. My favorite genre depends on the mood I am currently in, so one could say I can really enjoy any type, really.
However, I really, really like the books that are deep, leave you questioning and have a (good) mind twist at the end. They can be of any type of genre, but they are mostly dramas and thrillers.
EDIT: That is going to teach me to read the subforum name as well as the post itself. Answer remains the same really.

Re: Favourite Genre?
Books, books, books.
I like so many kinds of books. I have a definite preference for those which are fantasy or science fiction/fantasy or mystery. I've noticed that there is some (or a lot) of horror in some of the science fiction books I've read. What would Jurassic Park (and it's sequels) be? Science fiction? Fantasy (but no elves ...)? Horror?
One of the most terrifying books I've ever read is The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag (by Robert Heinlein) which is classified as science fiction on some library shelves. (I just looked at Good Reads and see it is classified as science fiction, fiction, short story, fantasy, science fiction fantasy, mystery and horror.)
I also like some history books -- but mostly those which are not of a main-stream 'the person who won who wrote the book' point of view.

I absolutely love fantasy, fanfictions and all books with at least pinch of magic. For example (Hp, Lord of Rings, Game of Thrones, Eragon, Warriors and so much more). If there is a time that I don´t have anything else then I also read criminals and some history stories (especially about ancient nations).

Fantasy is always a standby favorite for me. Although the last few years, I've moved away from epic fantasy to more gritty, not as flashy. Or urban fantasy, which tends to blend in alot of crime or detective stories into them. Which is another favorite genre of mine. I actually went through a spree for almost a year or more, where everytime I came back from the library, I had another True Crime novel in the stack lol. Lately, I've been dipping my toes into Science Fiction, thanks to Doctor Who. (Or just straight up reading Doctor Who books.)

Re: Favourite Genre?
I do limit myself, but it's more like I can't read anything but for fantasy and science fiction. It's been like this for a long time, and I rarely break this rule because I'm not interested in anything else. 12 years ago I liked detectives as well and I've read a lot of detectives for children and even some adult ones. At that time I've read some horror books as well, which I definitely won't read now. One of not-so-horror books gave me one of the worst fears in my childhood. I'm afraid even of some UFO books and books about mystical creatures. So I stick to things that definitely don't exist in reality, and even among those I prefer the "naive" (young adult) ones.
My favourite worlds are those where science and magic are combined. I'm a bit tired of reading about magic in medieval societies, and books about technomagic are usually set in the future which I like better.

Re: Favourite Genre?
I'm a huge fantasy fan. Almost all of my favorite books tend to be in the fantasy genre. I just love the idea of going to an all new world and having to learn the very basics about it. Science fiction is definitely my second favorite genre to read. Like a lot of others, I don't really tend to limit myself, but there are some genres I don't think I've ever read from.

Re: Favourite Genre?
This is so very difficult to answer! I do like many different genres, and I guess my favorites right now would be fantasy and suspense. Although an all time favorite would be the classics and historical fiction. I'm finding it hard to narrow it down to only one or two! I like historical fiction because I can play it in a timeline, and I can learn things from it about that time period even if the story itself is fictional. A book I read recently called The Book Thief for the summer reading challenge is an excellent example of the type of historical fiction I look for. As far as fantasy and suspense, suspense novels tend to have some sort of mystery involved and I like trying to figure it out along the way. I do have a favorite series but it is not HOL appropriate, so I will not mention it here. I like books that take place in another world as well. They take me out of this one for a while, and this is where fantasy comes in as a favorite. I recently read Silver Phoenix which is the first part to a series, and I look forward to completing it. It also takes into account traditional Asian culture. The classics never get old, and I could read Emma, Wuthering Heights, Pride and Prejudice, The Odyssey and many others over and over again and never tire.

Re: Favourite Genre?
Honestly, it would depend on my mood. I love all genres of books but there are times I just want to read a thriller and other times I want to read a fantasy novel.
I will say that I do gravitate toward fantasy and steampunk genres the most. I always loved the world of fantasy because anything is possible! Fantasy allows my imagination to run wild and takes me into very interesting worlds. I also love steampunk because I am addicted to the idea of steam powered everything! I would LOVE to ride on one of those awesome hot air balloons.

Re: Favourite Genre?
Fantasy of course; anythings with magic and special imaginary creatures and I am here to read it. I read books that are really good multiple times; and they are all fantasy or fiction. But sometimes I take a criminal book also.
