HOL Appreciation Month - Interviews

Post by Prof. Scarlet Leslie-Lewis »

CAMI'S FUDGE BLACKSMITHS (by Camila Kay)

For my interview, I decided to get a first-year's point of view.
Behold, my friend from Gryffindor, Pervinca Periwinkle!

1. What is your favorite thing about HOL so far?
-I think the option of the HOL messages. It's great to have a way to contact people not using e-mail.

2. What classes are you taking?
-I'm taking Astronomy, Potable Potions I, Transfiguration, Writing Workshop: Short Stories and Harry Potter Family Studies.

3. Do you prefer chocolate or vanilla?
-(What's this about?) Chocolate by far!

4. What is your favorite band?
-I haven't any. I prefer reading than listening to music.

5. Are you disappointed you got stuck being a Gryffindor? (shame I know)
-I'm really happy with my house. (And what about you, smarty-pants [only joking ;)] ?)

6. What is your shoe size?
- (Again; what's this about?) 36.

7. What is your favorite subject in real life?
-Science in general.

8. Do you plan on doing any activities on HOL? If so, what?
-Yes, I am planing to join HOLLERS, and I have already joined the Book Club.

9. Can you touch your nose with your tongue?
-Yeees?

10. Can you touch your tongue with your nose?
-Of course not! (Seriously?)

*Bonus question: Am I really as awesome as I think I am?
-Girl, I didn't thought that you'll drop soo down. (By the way, you ARE a little awesome ;) )

Best wishes!!

CAMI'S FUDGE BLACKSMITHS (by Polaris Black)

Bull J. Johnson is a Slytherin Fourth Year. He is an active member of the HOL community and I wanted to get to know him better.

1-What makes Slytherin such a great house?
Slytherin to me is the best house ever, because that is the house my heart feels it belongs in. Always we have great guys in this house like Prof. Snape and Luscius Malfoy (from the book) and in HOL we have great people too. To name a few Maxwell Shadow who has helped me loads with my math and being a great friend. And Daphne Marin-Booth who I miss so much talking with. She is truly a great HOH.

2-What’s the best thing you’ve ever tasted?
The best thing I have tasted is this ice cream I've only had when I was in Germany and don't even know the name of. All I can say is if you had to wonder what heaven tastes of then it would definitely be this flavor of ice cream.

3-What Quidditch position do you want to play and why?
Well I'm not into the quidditch you play online. Although if it was a real game I'd definitely play beater. Since I don't mind putting my body in harms way playing sports and because in my opinion this is the position strong, tough guys like me play. Not to bash other positions since we need all different types of players make a great team.

4-What things do you not like to do?
I don't like to give hugs. I will of course if someone really needs one, but I don't feel comfortable with it. This is just because in my family we don't hug to show our feelings. Not that we don't love each other.

5-Why did you want to join HOLLERS as an Assistant?
I joined HOLLERS as a assistant, because I love helping out HOL anyway I can. Hell I live HOL 24/7.

6-What superpower would you choose and why?
Super strength, because I love my muscles and would love to be even stronger than I am now.

7-What courses are you taking to improve your banner-making skills?
I'm taking this one on one class that helps me learn whatever I like to learn. This is only because I know more than others do in that club, but not enough to do the stuff that I would like to do. Right now the project I'm on is to work on a banner for the art department. If I'm lucky I will get it done before the task is over with if not then at least I have more practice with it.

8-What was your most embarrassing moment?
I don't get embarrassed easily. So maybe when I was small not being able to wait for the bathroom and peeing on myself. But then that can happen to all little kids.

9-If you could teach a course at HOL, what would it be?
I'd love to teach a class about wrestling or about country music. These are my two passions in life.

10-What’s the most beautiful sight you’ve ever seen?
This might sound a bit sappy, but the beautiful thing in the world to me is my mom and no matter how she ages I will always think she is the most beautiful thing on this world. Yeah go ahead and make fun of how sappy Bull is, but that is my true feelings.

DALEKS GONE WILD (by Thomas Lewis)

Rosemarie Halliwell interview. SQT Captain and Slytherin Prefect

It looks like Rosemarie Halliwell has just exited an important meeting with her Head of House and Co-Captain for the Slytherin Quidditch Team, let's try to grab her for a few questions, and if she tries to escape, we will just follow her..

Miss Halliwell let us steal some of your time.

3- How did you come to join HOL, is there a story behind it?

It's been so long now that I don't remember how I found HOL... Just googling Harry Potter stuff, I think.

4- Do you think Slytherin can retain their Quidditch title or will Ravenclaw have a stronger team for the second half of the season that could see them steal the title?

Slytherin can definitely keep their title

5- What makes Slytherin strong enough to do this? Will they not have to sacrifice a Quaffle player for the seeking position.

Someone will have to seek, of course. I'm confident we'll still be strong enough. We have lots of talented, valuable players.

6- So what are your future plans, for here on HOL?

I'm taking things as they come.. for now, my only plans are to keep up with my Slytherin prefect duties and SQT captain duties.

7- So what have your favourite classes been during your time on HOL?

My favorite classes so far were probably the beginning Potions class from a couple years ago and Maxwell Shadow's musical theatre classes.

8- You seem to have slowly moved up the ranks in Slytherin, do you see yourself running the joint at some point?

No, Not really.

9- Do you think HOL will continue for a long time or is it nearing it's end?

I hope it will continue for a long time.

9.5- I asked you if HOL will continue for a long time, not do you hope it will, so can you expand your answer to include if you think it actually will.. and why it won't succeed if it doesn't?

I don't know the future. HOL continuing isn't something I have any say in, all I can say is what I hope.

10- How has HOL affected your life as a whole?

It's helped me to make lots of friends and meet people from all over...

Okay, thank you for your time Miss Halliwell!

DRAGON EMPIRE (by Bull J. Johnson)

This interview is about Celia Cardongan.

How much do you like Harry Potter series? (1 being worst to 10 being best)
I'd give the serious an 8, which, for me, is incredible praise.

What reason did you pick the number you did above?
Ok. I think the HP series are really incredibly good - I'm envious of the author for having done what she did.

How much do you like HOL? (1 being worst to 10 best)
I'll give HOL a 9.

What reason did you pick the number that you did above?
I am really impressed with what it does, just mad at getting chewed out for nothing on chat. But no problem, I'll learn to deal or get out. I do think that this thing about being submissive to superior people is just ridiculous and I'll never bow down to it (so look for me to be kicked out again shortly, lolol).

What are your interests (hobbies or things like that)?
My hobbies are reading, dogs and Italian. Also, I'm moving across country very very soon, so that is totally an extra in my life - I had to be maps today so I could see where to go. I also had to buy a prepaid cell phone, for emergencies, and that was funny/annoying because I really don't like them and therefore don't know what I'm doing and annoy sales people. Haha!! That's what they get paid for, though. Oh, I also like cooking.

Do you like the house you were sorted into?
I am fine with the house I got assigned to, mostly because I asked to be there! I'm totally convinced that if I'd said, let me be in Slytherin or another house I'd be there..

Why or why not?
Because I'm a bit of a dork and thought I'd fit it best there.

What other house would you of liked to be sorted into if you couldn’t get into Ravenclaw?
Hufflepuff

Why did you pick that one?
I’m kind of shy.

What one thing do you want people to know what you?
I am moving to Arizona and really stressed out about the move.

DRAGON EMPIRE (by Bull J. Johnson)

I did Tarma Amelia Black.

What do you like best about HOL?
I've met some of the most wonderful people, from all around the world; bright, warm, and good. Some I've even met in person and it was great. It's amazing, really, and not anything like I would have imagined.

How long have you been here?
Since December 2003

What do you see yourself in 7 years?
You mean here at HOL? Haven't the foggiest. Do I see myself still here (if it is still here)? Probably!

And in RL?
In 7 years I would be doing pretty much the same thing, and either living here by the ocean (which I love) or maybe have moved to the desert (which I also love).

What one thing can HOL improve on?
There were a couple of projects that fell by the wayside; I'd like to see them come to life here. It'd be cool if there were more shops open in Hogsmeade.

What house would you be in if you were not in Hufflepuff?
Gryffindor

What your favorite class you taught?
Broom Race-The Race Across Sweden co-taught with Cosmo B. Mott
Loved making the evil challenges ....

What your favorite class you been in (not teaching)?
The Squibbler -- This was Rames' class and I got to be a co-editor with Cassie and Cosmo. Met CassieButterfly in there and discovered she has a lovely knack for writing! While I already knew Cosmo some, it was in that class that I found out that her graphic abilities are totally awesome.

What are you interested in? (hobbies)
Hobbies - reading, knitting, gardening, horses, walking along the beach, life

What your favorite color?
Depends on my mood - favorites are usually purple, black, lavender, dark green, maroon, dark blue (Tardis blue...)

What your favorite dessert/candy?
Blueberries

Interview of Will Lestrange (Slytherin) (Answers in italics):

1. Do you remember the details of the day you first joined HOL? If yes, please describe anything that you came across while roaming around the castle!
I remember being very excited about getting Sorted into Slytherin... and very confused about how to set things up. I think I was bumping into castle walls a lot the first day!

2. Are you into (muggle) sports? If yes, which ones?
Not really to play anymore, but I am a fan of the Baltimore Orioles (baseball) as well as the UCLA Bruins (all sports)

3. Which is your favourite book out of the HP Series and why?
Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban because of its flow and twists.

4. What type of music do you listen to (or prefer the most)?
I'll go with classical for now.

5. Which place on Earth are you most eager to visit?
Australia

6. What do you like the most about HOL?
Probably Quidditch; it's the reason I joined (the communities I was in before had given it up).

7. Snickers or Mars?
Mars

8. Laptop or Desktop?
Desktop

9. Out of summer, spring, autumn, and winter, which season do you prefer?
Spring because the weather gets better throughout

10. What phrase do you often say while having a conversation?
Not even sure what this means; I'll say "How are you?" because I know I say that once per conversation

JAMES LOST BRICKS (by Patrick James)

Interview of Matilde Rayne (Ravenclaw) (Answers in italics):

1. Let's start with HOL, because this is what this month is about. How did you find it? How come you searched for it (if you did)?
I first came across HOL a few months before I actually joined, just from searching for an online Hogwarts sort of thing on a whim. I'd been involved in a few other Harry Potter-based sites/groups previously, but I'd never really gotten overly involved or attached to any of them, for various reasons, so I really wanted to find a community I could enjoy being part of. I remember coming across HOL, seeing the blog on the main site advertising some of the activities going on, and thinking that the site sounded like a lot of fun. Unfortunately, at the time, sign ups were closed - but I made sure to come back when they were open, haha.

2. If you still remember, how was your first expression/ your first year at HOL?
My first year was... an interesting year, lol. Despite the fact that I joined looking to connect with people with similar interests, I was pretty shy when I first joined HOL, so I had a hard time figuring out how to get started, really. Luckily, before too long, I got an unexpected HOL message from Tara Aurelium, who was a co-captain of RQT at the time, saying hello and inviting me to try out the IRC channels. We exchanged a few messages, and soon enough, I found myself frequenting IRC and trying out Quidditch. I ended up having a pretty busy year outside of HOL, so I stayed fairly quiet on the site that year, but I enjoyed the year and talking to the people I got to know, so it was a pretty foregone conclusion that I'd be sticking around. And that's really the thing for me. HOL is entertaining enough, sure, with all of the activities that go on, but I'm not sure I would have stuck around as long as I have if it weren't for the people and the friendships that form. It's funny, really; Harry Potter is still a unifying theme, of course, but I've always found HOL to be more about the people who call the site "home" - as one might expect, given that friendship is the strongest magic. ;)

3. From the classes you took in the last years, what was your favourite/ were your favourites?
Hmmm, favorite class is a hard choice, there's so many awesome ones. I tend to really like the classes like Healing Herbology or Chinese Festivals that are grounded in the "real world" so to say. As a general rule, I've loved all of the classes I've taken by Scarlet Leslie. Also, I really enjoyed Silmarien Szilagyi's Forensic Anthropology and Beyond Earth/Science Fiction classes, because of their subjects.

4. What do you enjoy the most in HOL?
Well, outside of talking about the people you meet and such... I have to go with (probably) the obvious answer. Quidditch! <3 I'm a bit of a quiddy freak, if you didn't know. Or, well, maybe a little more than a bit, haha. I love the game, and I love RQT - when I was away from HOL for a few months this past term, I missed them terribly.

5. Now tell me a bit about yourself. What do you do in your free time (if you have any ^^) except HOL?
*Laughing at "if you have any"* - probably applicable, considering I spent about four hours in class and ten hours yesterday writing lab reports. << But outside of HOL, and chemistry studying, I like reading comic books, playing video games, baking, and doing other such nerdy things, lol. I also love just taking walks around the park that's near my house and spending a bit of time outside; sometimes it's nice to just find a quiet spot over there, get comfortable, and enjoy the atmosphere - it's really peaceful and comforting.

6. Which two adjectives would you say describe you best?
Aww, I hate doing this, I never know what to say. >_< So I'm going to cheat and pick words that have multiple meanings - hey, I'm still technically picking two words, right? Let's go with bright and caring. For bright, I'm pretty clever (I am a Ravenclaw, after all, lol) but I'm also generally an optimistic and cheerful person (even if I can be rather sarcastic/sassy at times). For caring, I'm referring to both caring very much for others (I'm happiest when I can make other people happy) and for the things I do (I don't do things halfway, because I care enough to always do my best).

7. Questions about Harry Potter, yay!
Which is your favourite character? Which is your least favourite? Why?

Favorite: Luna Lovegood (particularly movie Luna, but book Luna is wonderful, as well); she's smart, brave, and imaginative, and is probably the most self-assured character in the entire series, which I really admire. Least Favorite: I mean, probably just one of the characters we know so very little about. But if we're going off of just pure dislike, it's clearly Umbridge. She's a terrible person, and there's nothing redeeming about her ever discussed (unlike with characters like Snape; Snape's also a terrible person, but his story is compelling, and he's one of my favorite characters because of it).

8. Honeydukes or Zonkos? Where would you go first?
Umm... Zonko's? More out of curiosity than anything else. Honeydukes is fairly straightforward, but imagine all of the interesting little items Zonko's would have. Not that I'm really one for pranks. *coughs* <<

9. Chocolate frogs or Bertie Botts Beans?
Chocolate frogs. My adventurous side ends somewhere before the possibility of vomit flavored candy begins.

10. What do you think would your patronus look like?
Probably a cat of some sort? Symbolizing independence and curiosity, above all.

11. If you were an animagus, what animal would you choose?
Lol, probably an owl, for the worst reasons. Owls are fairly mobile, of course, and they can fly, so they can reach places I wouldn't normally be able to reach. Also, given that owls are so very common in the wizarding world, I'd be able to go many places with arousing suspicion; not that I would ever abuse that. (... >>)

NAMAKE TAROU (by Fumei Shirokuro)

Interview with Marina Artemis, a first year Ravenclaw.

Fumei goes into her interview mode.
<Fumei>For starters I think it's amazing that you want to be my victim, I mean lovely volunteer in this interview!
<Marina> Lol XD

<Fumei> Since you're new to HOL, how are you finding HOL?
<Marina> I love HOL very much. I look forward to learning a lot and having a lot of fun on here and making new friends.

<Marina> I never have any problems speaking my mind and telling people how things are with respect to not going overboard.
<Fumei> Oh nice to hear that!
<Marina> No not just yet, just that's how I am personality wise. I am very loyal and honest but I'm not afraid of speaking my mind or the truth.
<Fumei> you sure you aren't a Lion? xP
<Fumei> or a Badger xD
<Marina> What can I say? I am a person of many qualities. But to simply identify myself as just being one way would be almost stereotypical. Even many characters from HP had qualities that other houses are known for mainly but they were still who they were.
<Fumei> that is so true
<Fumei> and I think it's only good that people have the qualities from other houses
<Fumei> I think we all have them, only just a few spring out more than the other
<Fumei> They are the crazy top ringers of your qualities
<Marina> The thing that makes me identify with being a ravenclaw the most is my deep desire to want to learn about at least a million things at a time and the fact that I am very eccentric.

<Fumei> YAY! What was the hardest thing to understand up until now?
<Marina> Hmmm...just having waiting on getting confirmed to all my classes. I love them all so I do want to get all my homework done right away.
<Fumei> for which classes did you sign up? (and if I'm going to fast just say so x'D)
<Marina> I signed up for fae folk: the people, art appreciation: ninja turtles, Defense against the dark arts, Intro to divination, and steampunk 101
<Fumei> oh nice!
<Fumei> I think I also signed up for the fea folk class!
<Marina> Oh cool! I love fairies and what people call mythical creatures lol
<Fumei> I know right!
<Fumei> It's always fun to read and learn more about them

<Fumei> also how did you find the first lesson of DADA or first assignment that you had to do?
<Marina> I have tons of books on fairies and would love to know as much as possible about them.
<Marina> That first assignment of DADA was by far my favorite that I have done so far because it resonates with what I practice off of HOL. Elemental magic.
<Fumei> but good to hear that that was your favorite so far!
<Fumei> It's a pretty fun class to take!
<Marina> Yeah lol.
<Fumei> Now we have now focused on the classes you take what you find of HOL up until now.
<Marina> I look forward to learning more about using defensive tactics in magick.

<Fumei> Who is your favorite HP character?
<Marina> Definitely Luna lovegood. She is so insightful and even though she may be kind of out there to some, she is brilliant and seems like a person I would hang out with in real life.
<Fumei> She indeed is!
<Fumei> She's also one of my favorites xD
<Marina> People like that bring a new perspective to how you view the world and I think people need that in their lives.
<Fumei> Why do you think that?
<Marina> That's awesome. The other thing aside from both being in ravenclaw that we have in common is that we love chocolate pudding lol
<Fumei> haha
<Marina> Coming from experience from my family and friends, people take life way too seriously and forget to let loose every now and again at least.
<Fumei> ah I see
<Fumei> and yes I also think that sometimes people just have to let go
<Marina> One of two things happen with that, you either end up living a life that is too boring and regret not trying new things or you end up being afraid of stepping out of your own front door. If we don't have a little sense of freedom and adventure, we end up never knowing what fun really is.
<Fumei> mmhm true to that

<Fumei> So favorite character is Luna Lovegood
<Fumei> Who is your favorite HOL person you have met until now
<Fumei> obviously I don't count 'cause I'm just fabulous *cough*
<Marina> Lol!!! You have been pretty cool. So far I have met some really nice people so far and it would be hard for me to choose just one person.
<Fumei> haha
<Marina> I would say so far I have gotten to meet you, Kayla and Scarlet. All three of you have been really cool and very welcoming.
<Fumei> nice to hear and yeah both Kayla and Scarlet are awesome!
<Marina> Yeah they are really nice as well as you. :)
<Marina> So who is your favorite character from HP?
<Fumei> My favorite character(s) are Snape, Neville and Luna
<Fumei> oh... wonder that
<Fumei> all are from a different house
<Fumei> x'D
<Fumei> I just love how we see the true face of Snape during all the books.
<Marina> I actually have a soft spot for shape as well as a respect for him.
<Fumei> yeah
<Fumei> he was a true lion at heart *pinks away a tear*
<Fumei> he just didn't want to admit it xD
<Marina> Neville is adorable and I like that he is always putting himself out there.
<Fumei> yes
<Fumei> and how he grows in his qualities
<Fumei> I really loved his 'evolution' during the series
<Fumei> and I love luna for being different for all the others and not changing even through she is different
<Marina> Yeah! Some people can be full of surprises in a good way. I love those kind of people. :)

<Fumei> A bit non HP related, what are your hobbies?
<Marina> My hobbies range from, reading about elemental magic, collecting crystals, going out for Asian food. (Japanese and Chinese), gaming, Cosplaying, music and the arts, and gaming.
<Fumei> japanese food *___*
<Fumei> omnomnom
<Marina> I also like the different decades such as the Victorian era, the 20s through the 50s and the 80s and 90s
<Marina> Yessss! I love my sushi and milk tea is delicious! With the tapioca bubbles of course! ^.^
<Fumei> so true!

<Fumei> Okay only 3 more questions to go (so only 3 more for me to think of)
<Fumei> and then you're free of my torture xD
<Fumei> What is your favorite colour? (yes I'm getting out of good torture material ;))
<Marina> Hahaha no problem. I have enjoyed it so far :)
<Marina> My favorite colors are purple, blue and teal

Fumei looks if there are any eagles in the neighborhood and kidnaps Marina
<Fumei> I think you belong to me <333 purple <333
<Fumei> do you love coffee as well by any chance?
<Marina> I do love coffee. It's been a while that I have had some but I love love love coffee!
<Marina> And tea too
<Marina> Lol!!! ^^
<Marina> Awwww I feel so complimented! :)
<Fumei> lolol
<Fumei> You are just a person to my heart <333
<Marina> Awes thank you! ^.^

<Fumei> okay last question! (cause I have decided that those 2 last questions are 2 questions)
<Fumei> Describe (show xP) your current mood with a gif!
<Marina> Okay let me find one and I will link it right away
<Fumei> okay o/
<Marina> the one I saw to identify myself with is the cute white kitty
<Marina> Image
<Fumei> awwwwww <333

<Fumei> Well thank you for being my lovely victim in this! xD
<Marina> Thank you for making me your victim haha XD
<Fumei> your welcome!
<Fumei> (it's also a great opportunity to learn more about a person)

NAMAKE TAROU (by Prof. Rorey Padfoot)

Interview with Kim Alting; First Year Gryffindor

Kim is my First Friend, so this helped me get to know her better!

Rorey - Thanks for doing this for me Kim!

Rorey - 1. How did you find HOL?

Kim - I was searching for magical Herbs and Fungi online for a HP book about Herbology which I'm currently making. I clicked a link which led me to the HOL library, from where I got to the HOL mainpage.

Rorey - Were you happy the Sorting Hat put you in Gryffindor here at HOL?

Kim - I was really happy I was sorted into Gryffindor. At Pottermore I've been put into Slytherin, which is just not me.

Rorey - What's your favorite part of HOL right now?

Kim - I really like the activities that are going on, like this appreciation month, or the dens. Also I like earning beans with puzzles or projects. And of course the classes are much fun. But most of all I like the activities in which you get to learn other people, by doing activities together.

Rorey - Do you have any goals set for this year at HOL?

Kim - I'd like to get 2 quills, so I can apply for class assistant next year. Earning many beans is also a goal, so making sure I do all my homework and extra activities around HOL.

Rorey - Have you visited any other house Common Rooms yet?

Kim - I've already visited Hufflepuff a couple of times and the Ravenclaw Common Room as well... Still waiting on approval for the Slytherin Common Room.

Rorey - Who is your favorite Harry Potter Character and why?

Kim - Professor Snape is my favorite HP character. Not from the beginning, but I came to like him more and more when the story went on. At the end of the series I really knew: Professor Snape is my hero! I like him for his sluggish behaviour, the way he moves and talks... And ofcourse because of the reason behind his weird behaviour.

Rorey - What is it about the Harry Potter series that you love?

Kim - I really like the things that just can't happen in life, or don't excist in real life. The animals, the moving pictures and paintings, Diagon Alley, every little detail which has been carefully thought about.

Rorey - Do you have any other fandom series that you like? (ie. Doctor Who, Sherlock, etc.)

Kim - Most of all I'm a Potterhead, but I'm also a huge fan of The Vampire Diaries. I'm also watching Game of Thrones and the Walking Dead. Though I'm not involved in any activities relating those series, that's something I've only done with HP (visiting the Londen Studios, collecting things related to HP, HOL, crafting things related to HP like books, potions).

Rorey - What made you join the HOL Appreciation activity?

Kim - Someone asked me if I was interested in joining and because I wanted to get to know HOL as best as I could right away, I joined immediately.

Rorey - What's your favorite color?

Kim - I like very bright colors: scarlet, azure, lemon green, but also 'baby' colors like baby blue, baby pink...

Thanks for the interview!

Interview with Thomas Lewis, Slytherin

Awesome! So, Thomas, thank you again for taking your time and answering my silly questions! ^_^

1. I'm just gonna start by asking about your relationship with Prof. Cody Lewis, since your share the same surname and the same house. Is there a history behind or just a pure coincidence? And do you find it weird or intimidating to keep up with his reputation?

I was Lewis first, he changed his name after so no I have my own. We both have our separate reputations, he's just a slightly faster typer though I admire how hard he trains and I once trained as hard but wish I had his motivation. I just picked my name randomly to be honest and I'll say more on Cody's name in the next question.

2. That really bugged me for a while and I had to ask. Coincidence or not, what is the story behind your name, Thomas Lewis?

Well I signed up as Thomas Lewis, he signed up with his real name then realised you can't use your real name and decided my 2nd name was cool or something. You'd have to ask Cody why he chose Lewis. We knew each other before HOL from OQL which was another Quidditch game and joined HOL with a group of people from there.

3. Now, to move on, let's talk about your first experience on HOL. How did you find it? I know I was a ball of excitement and I didn't know what to do first. What about yourself?

I was excited for Quidditch then disliked botting so I then got into the classes and enjoyed them a lot.

4. What do you find the most exciting, here, on HOL?

Quidditch

5. If you hadn't been sorted into Slytherin, which other house do you reckon you would have ended up in?

I'm not sure really, I have qualities from all the houses.

6. If you were to be someone else on HOL, who would you be and why?

Cody so I can wreck quidditch.

7. Where do you spend most of your time, when you're on HOL?

On irc, I'll mostly be in SQT rooms or a private room with pals. On the site I just browse the forums and look for pets.

8. What do you think your Patronus is?

Tiger

9. Can you predict who's gonna win the House Cup this year? What about the Quidditch Cup?

Quidditch I think and hope Slytherin, as for the house I'll guess that Ravenclaw take it.

10. And to sum things up, a final question: what are your plans for the future, here, on HOL?

I'll do my OWLs and win Quidditch cups.

I think that's pretty much it! Thank you again for your time! And hope to see you again sometime!

Interview with Caroline Alexandra Miguel, Ravenclaw

Thank you for letting me interview you!

1. You are rather new here, right? What do you think about HOL so far?

Yes, I've been technically around HOL since May, but I took greater interest in it, IRC, etc. at the beginning of summer and I got heavily involved. I think it's an extraordinary society. I've been in many virtual Hogwarts during my life but this one is pretty original with its classes about basically everything, Quidditch, etc. Moreover, people here are really nice and kind of family-oriented. They will always welcome you with open arms if you show you respect HOL rules. And - there is a bunch of interesting people from all over the world. Well, mainly United States, but that is still interesting, seeing that I'm from a little country in Europe.

2. I see. Have you always felt like a Ravenclaw or were you surprised when you were sorted?

Hmm... I've asked myself many times which house would I be sorted in, if I were at Hogwarts. Most of people who know me said that I'd suit Ravenclaw, but I think I've got also some Slytherin traits. But yeah, I have some Ravenclaw stickers on my laptop and some Ravenclaw stuff. I'd say there was really little surprise in me being sorted to this house.

3. By the way, are you Muggle-born or pure-blood? Not that it matters, but being Muggle-born myself I know there are a lot of wizardy things that can seem surprising in the beginning until one gets used to them.

I'm from a pure-blood family, however, it was originated in the middle of Europe, so coming to HOL was kind of like a culture shock. I'd say I had similar experiences to those that Muggle-borns have.

4. Ah, I see. Have you experienced anything particularly weird in the hallways yet?

Oh, with all the magic around you can have a difficult time telling whether something is normal or weird. However, I have to admit I'm a bit intrigued by the portrait of Prof. Mandrake on the third floor. I'm not sure if it's only me, but I kind of feel like it is watching me every time whenever I come across it.

5. Oh really? I haven't really thought of that... Well, what do you hope to achieve this year?

Achievements this year... Well, most certainly I would like to get improved in Quidditch trivia. I'd also like to earn all 10 quills - we'll see how that goes though. And, if I will be able to help, I'd love to help win RQT the Quidditch cup. I think these are the main goals.

6. I think you'll do well. Are there any other clubs or non-class activities you're interested in as well, or only Quidditch?

I'll try to watch HOLLERS club and I'll take part in First Friend Project. I'm also trying to get into all interesting activities, both in HOL and Ravenclaw.

7. I'm always curious when it comes to people's bedrooms - please, could you describe how you have decorated the area by your bed in the dormitory?

Oh, I've been waiting with all decor elements for a long time. I wanted to see first how others have decorated their beds. But finally I decided to purchase a big poster of Vratsa Vultures. I put it on the wall and it is currently the biggest sign that is saying "It's Caroline's bed!" I haven't really added anything else to that area. Maybe in future.

8. Now I have a few more random questions for you! Here's the first one: If you won 500 Galleons, how would you spend them?

A trip all over the world. I'd love to see all those famous places. And experience different cultures.

9. Yeah, that's always nice! Okay, which do you prefer: unicorns or chimaeras?

Unicorns. They're way safer and cuter! And they've never eaten a Quidditch team player. : (We all remember Dai Llewelyn that got eaten by a chimaera...)

10. Yes, very tragic. Next, what is your favourite vacation spot?

A big and pulsing with life city.

11. Have you ever de-gnomed a garden?

No, I have never experienced such a "pleasure".

12. LOL And lastly: Who is your hero from the Harry Potter universe?

Severus Snape. Most definitely and not arguably. He did wrong, yes. But then he turned to do right. And besides, him doing wrong wasn't just his decision but also the influence of his father, broken heart, etc...

Thank you so much for your time answering all these questions!

No problem. :)

PURPLE PANDA PANDEMONIUM (by Kaiwa Alexandra)

I interviewed Allison Sullivan of Gryffindor and Sirius Fudge of Hufflepuff about Quidditch - those two who are playing for different quidditch teams for regular season, but had been stuck with Charz and I for the last 2 SQL. And it was always fun with them around.
So here it is, I present you... the Interviews!

Sirius Fudge
1. How long have you been involved in quidditch?
Hello Drude! So this is an interview about quidditch, I see. Anyway, I'll introduce myself first. I am Sirius, and I am a badger friend of Kai (Drude, as I call her). On your question, about two years already. o/

2. What first made you join it? Have you heard about online quidditch before HOL?
When I was an ickle firstie, I already know the awesomeness of RQT, the hardworking, neversaydie attitude of the Spiffies, the HQT. I was not in IRC that time so there's no venue for me to try quidditch, at all. It was when I was made prefect that I tried IRC one day and it went O.o from there. I was already friends with someone named Kaiwa Alexandra that time. Crazy as she was or is, she had an idea and I was or is also crazy that I said yes to her idea - to join the Semi/Non Pro game in SQL 2012. Yeah, we had fun, yeah, even without hits. :P Oh, on the second question, no.

3. What was your very first HOL quidditch experience that you remember? (Please go as early as possible e.g. first bot or practice or asking a captain to join)
Hmm, I think the answer to this question lies in the bowels of the #huffquid channel in IRC and involves myself asking too many questions to Tarma, Cosmo about quidditch in general, how botting works and botting, botting and botting. O.o Yeah, they are awesome.

4. My first official game was horrible and I'd love to know if someone else's is too >> how was your first official game going?
Does an SQL game count? If it counts, you know that I sucked at our Semi/Non Pro Game last SQL 2012. LOL. For the regular quidditch season, I think I did well in my first game, against the Gryffindors. Yes, a few hits make me happy. :D

5. If you're assigned to play with one person in one team forever. Until your death comes. Who do you pick and why?
I'll pick (Prof.) Cody. The reason is I want to survive. And I am tired of being bludgered. O.o Maybe he can help me. o/

6. RQT has the best record in HOL quidditch. How do you imagine them (RQT) when we're practicing? You sure have heard rumors about how Edmund is keeping on heels, and Kyrie has the magical brainwashing power. How do you see them?
It is not very known to HOL but RQT always ends in the hospital wing after their 6-hour practices every night. Kai has her severely burned right leg, Charz has her memory taken away from her, Edmund would have her heels checked up, making sure that it's as shiny again for the next practice, Kyrie has no bruises, just checking on the other members of the team, Arielle's typos affected her speech. Every time, they end like that. As for Scarlet, snitches follow her so the nurses would do some stuff to lure the snitches away from her. That shows how ruthless their practices are. I am pretty sure one time I saw a hurricane in the Quidditch pitch when they are practicing. O.o I am pretty sure that Madam Pomfrey also would like to cancel quidditch. *nods*

7. Which team do you think will win this year's HOL Quidditch trophy?
As much as I like to say HQT, SQT is really rocking it on. But I am sure that RQT will do their best to take the quidditch cup back to their locker, right Drude, right? ;)

8. If you could ban someone from HOL Quidditch forever. Like, ever. Who would you pick?
Can I ban myself?! o/ If not, let's agree to ban (Prof.) Cody Lewis. He's too, three, four awesome.

9. We have some very good new people last SQL. Who do you will shine the most in upcoming HOL Quidditch season?
Yeah, there are really good rookies last SQL. Caroline Miguel is really good. She is a great addition to RQT's already elite team.

10. Three words for HOL Quidditch
KAI. HQT. FUN.

Thanks Drude for this interview. This is totally a quidditch interview. >>
Omg thanks for the awesome answers! It's totally a quidditch interview >> Thank you Sirirude <3

THE GORGEOUS GOLDEN GALLANT GALS (by Lilly Anderson)

Interview with Professor Scarlet Leslie.

1) How did you find HOL?
It was so long ago, but I'm pretty sure it was a link in a friend's AIM profile that said all Harry Potter fans should join. I clicked it and looked around the site a bit and joined that day.

2) Were you happy with your house?
I wasn't active enough back then to really have an opinion, but I always loved the Ravenclaw values and colors. (Yes, colors are very important to me... hence my name.) I can't imagine myself in another house.

3) What kept you hooked?
In school, I studied science, which doesn't always lend itself well to showing my creative side. I loved that HOL classes gave me inspiration to write and draw. I also really enjoy puzzles and games and strategy in general, so all the activities in Ravenclaw and HOL were so much fun, especially when I got to meet other people too. Oh, and seeking! Strategy and puzzle rolled into one. I couldn't possibly go through an interview without mentioning my snitch friends, now could I?

4) Did you ever take a break? If so why did you come back?
My story is a bit of the opposite of that, I think. I didn't become very active on HOL until I had to withdraw from school for a year. HOL kept me sane and I started getting more involved.

5) Do you think HOL friendship is real?
Most definitely. There are people on HOL that I can count on no matter how far away they are in real life.

6) What is in your opinion the best part of HOL?
I love classes. I love when the class list goes up. I love deciding what classes to take. I love taking classes. I love reading lessons. I love choosing what assignment options to do. I love creating classes. I love teaching classes. Classes are what got me here in the first place and if you need any more proof that I'm a Ravenclaw, there you go.

7) Why did you become a professor?
I couldn't just leave HOL after 7 years and I taught my first class as a 7th year. I figured I would eventually teach more classes. I don't think I even thought I could come up with so many more classes after that, but I'm glad it happened that way.

8) Has being a professor changed your outlook on HOL?
I've seen more of the drama that occurs, but I've also seen all the work that goes into the organization. If anything, it has helped me appreciate HOL and all the people who care about it a lot more.

9) Would you go back to being a student if you could?
Well, I'm somewhat of a points addict, so yes, I think I would enjoy being a student again.

10) Are you and Cody dating?
Good question. The short answer is yes. The longer answer is... Cody helped me realize something that I should've figured out years ago. He saved my life this summer and he is my best friend.

THE HAIRY GUM DROPZ (by Ashley Margaret)

Interview of Thomas Lewis, Slytherin

1. When and why did you join HOL?
I joined around the same time you did and I came with a bunch of OQLs to try out for HOL quidditch.

2. You've squibbed twice since joining do you feel you're at the right house now?
I squibbed from my original house, to another house, and then back to my original house. There's cups to be won, and there's some good people in Slytherin, Gryffindor has awesome people to though. I was sad to leave but I felt like I had unfinished business in Slytherin and felt like a quitter for leaving. Slytherin is my favorite house and who knows if I would've started out as a Gryffindor I might've not squibbed at all cause the lions are awesome.

3. How was your SQL experience?
It was good we came in 2nd place.

4. What's your fondest HOL memory?
Winning the Quidditch cup, it was awesome.

5. If you could be in any other house besides Slytherin, where and why? Gryffindor, I've already answered why or possibly Ravenclaw as they possess admirable qualities.

6. What is your favorite thing about quidditch?
Winning

7. Do you have any goals such as becoming a prefect or professor?
Maybe I'll become a professor or a overlord and control everything, lol. My real goal I guess is to pass my OWLs. It's hard to set up too many goals on an internet site when real life comes first.

8. What house do you think will win the Quidditch cup?
Slytherin

9. What advice would you give to a new HOLer?
Do what you do best, be it playing quidditch, classes, and be careful most people on this site are friendly but some will only be friendly when it means achieving a goal instead of for the sake of friendship.

10. What three words would you use to describe HOL quidditch?
Slytherin wins cup

11. If you could captain a team of 6 players who would those players be?
Scarlet Leslie, Cody Lewis, Ashley Margaret, Matilde Rayne, Rosemarie Halliwell, Edmund Smethwyck

12. You were part of two quidditch leagues, how do they differ?
One quidditch is trivia based and the other uses a broomrider script to type commands like catch a quaffle, or hit the bludger and then decides where it goes, who it hits, pass the quaffle or score. HOL is trivia and OQL is more command based but both are awesome.

THE PHOENIX FEATHERS (by Kim Alting)

Interview with Maxwell Shadow from Slytherin

Question 1: How did you become involved in HOL?
Answer 1 I was a member of another Harry Potter RP site which was sadly losing active members when I was invited here by one of my friends and the wonderful lessons got me hooked on HOL.

Question 2: How do you think the Sorting Hat made his decision to put you into Slytherin (on what grounds)? And do you like being in Slytherin or do you think you belong somewhere else?
Answer 2 I think that I personally wouldn't have been placed in Slytherin by the Sorting Hat. I'm much more of a Ravenclaw but I have a sneaky side to me too. I think the Sorting Hat knew that Max was destined for Slytherin though as his older sister was a Slytherin too. I've been playing Slytherin characters for so long now that I feel like I belong here too!

Question 3: If you could do magic, for what every day issue would you use it, what would you change and how?
Answer 3 Ooh, awesome question. I think I would apparate to work (or use the Floo Network) so I could have an extra 30 minutes in bed and avoid the rush hour traffic. I'm not a morning person and that would make my life so much better.

Question 4: What is your favorite moment from Harry Potter (can be every book or film)?
Answer 4 It has to be Molly Weasley's battle with Bellatrix at the end of Deathly Hallows. I was so glad they kept her line in the film as it shows her fierce love for her children and generally how great she is.

Question 5: If you could change something about the story, what would it be?
Answer I would get rid of the epilogue as it's just too cheesy for my taste. If an epilogue was needed then it could have been done in a better way I think; I even came up with an alternative a few years back, which is instead at the graduation ceremony a few years after the Battle of Hogwarts.

Question 6: What is your favorite subject at Hogwarts and which one at HOL, also can you explain why?
Answer 6 If I was at Hogwarts I'd probably enjoy Ancient Runes or Arithmancy the best. There are so many great HOL classes that it's hard to pick just one. I have really enjoyed studying the history and mythology based courses I've taken but my favourite two were from my first year on HOL and sadly don't exist anymore: "Death Eaters 101" and "Tales of Beedle the Bard".

Question 7: Who is your favorite character from Harry Potter and why?
Answer 7 Do I really have to pick one? It's far too difficult! I'll say either Sirius or Lupin but you can't make me choose between them!

Question 8: What makes you a good Harry Potter fan?
Answer 7 Whenever my friends have some Potter related question they always come to me. And I have lots of HP CosPlay outfits which is just cool!

Question 9: In what kinds of things are you involved here around HOL? What do you like most?
Answer 9 The classes have always been my favourite part of HOL and I've enjoyed becoming a student teacher for the past few terms. I'm already starting to think about what new class I could make for next term and the Autumn classes have only just begun. I'm also really pleased to have recently been made a Prefect (which is pretty great) and have been trying to keep the Dungeons busy so far this new term.

Question 10: Do you have any tips for me (and other) first years?
Answer 10 Get involved with as much of HOL as you have time for. Take lots of classes so you can earn points for your house and also learn lots of new things. Get to know people in your common room and join in with all activities offered to you there and on the main HOL site. HOL is a place where you can be yourself and people will talk to you and be friendly so make the most of that! But most importantly, make sure you do your homework or you'll be stuck as a first year forever!
