I think it's about time for another little game here! One game that was very popular last time we played it was "Who Am I?"
The rules are simple. One person chooses a character from the trilogy (and we're doing a movies edition now, so only choose characters that appear in the movies - however, it's okay to use information from the books as well, as long as the characters appear in the movies too). He or she then posts a clue about the character, and the task for the rest of us is to guess which character the person is! The one who makes a correct guess posts a new clue (after the answer has been confirmed correct).
To make the clue writing a little more fun, let's say that the clue should be between 2-5 lines.
If you are a HOLTS member, you'll get 1 silmaril for each correct answer!

Okay, here goes the first one!
Part of the famous fellowship
that departed from the house of Elrond
One moment of weakness
almost brought failure to us all
I found peace before the end

Could it be Lobelia and Otho Sackville-Baggins?
In the film I think it was just Lobelia that we saw though. They were related, but Bilbo did spend his party trying to avoid her.

Ok, here goes ...
Foul thing from the depths of the earth,
Disturbed from the deep by dwarves
Took a stand on the bridge
With fiery whip
Caused the grey one to fall
But did not pass

Awesomeness....and now let me proceed and be evilly obscure because it's stress relief ">>
Terror came to our lands, thus we were forced to flee.
Sent to safety, only to be sent away again.
Finally reunited, but how long will it last?
Edit: And either I'm more evil than I thought I was or no one's been around to guess ">>

So, I will have a guess, but this quote could, I think apply to more than one person individually or as a pair, mainly because of the 'our' and why I have been a bit confused (although that's not hard).
That said, I will guess ..... Arwen.
(If it is not correct can I guess again?)

So, I'll have another go .....Eia Donne wrote:QUOTE (Eia Donne @ Apr 24 2012, 10:04 AM) Mmmm....it could apply to Merry and Pippin actually, but they're major enough characters I would have chosen one or the other.
Think much smaller and towards the middle.
I think it's those two children of Rohan from the Westfold who were sent to Edoras to warn the King and tell the Rohirrim about the wild men invading and setting fire to their stuff. They were reunited at Helm's Deep, but the Uruk Hai (?) attacked.
*phew*
Maybe?

ARG.
It was the boss of the men, a king of the group of people who accepted rings from Sauron.
The one that Eowyn killed.
'I am no man.' or something like that.
But I don't remember his name ...

as (and I 'think' I'm right) Gandalf mentions him by name, I'm going to be a little pedantic and ask for his name/ title
