Have you ever started a book that you just couldn't get into, even though you almost felt obligated to do so given its popularity? For me, it has to be Lord of the Rings. As a fantasy lover, I kept telling myself that I should like it, because it is considered by many to be the fantasy book. I tried, several times, in fact and I just never could get into the writing style.

So what about you?

The Fault in Our Stars.

I had people close to me read it and tell me it was so good and they cried so hard at the end so I was like "Oh goodness, this must be really good". Then I read it and went "Oh, this is actually disappointing" because I just didn't think it was that good. My friends were shocked I didn't like it like they did.

I didn't really enjoy wizard of earthsea by Ursula K Le Guin. I like a lot of her other books but I just struggled to get into this one because I felt like it was keeping me at a distance.

I knew Atlas Shrugged was pretty controversial but very popular anyway so I decided to read it and see if it's really that bad. And yes after finishing I agreed with every critic that made bad reviews. I don't like what it propagandise and I really don't like the way it's written

I'm with you Emily. I generally love a good fantasy/magic style book but absolutely cannot stand Lord of the Rings. I tried hard to like the book but my goodness it is so boring. I even gave the movie a try thinking it would at least move a bit faster into the plot. No such luck! 30 minutes in and I was fast asleep.
