Classics - v. 2

Last spring I asked a question about classics, and now I am once again feeling inspired (after having read one of my favourite classics once more: Macbeth) to ask your opinions an another aspect of classics.
Which piece of classical litterature is your favourite, and why is it? What makes it special to you? Is it the story itself or is it something else about it? Maybe when you first read it or another thing?
And what classics have you read - whether you liked them or not, I'd be interested to hear what people have read. And did you read them because you were required to or because you wanted to? Tell me a little about your reasoning.
