Read-along Wrap Up

Post by Prof. Sky Alton »

‘Another year gone!’ Dumbledore said cheerfully. ‘And I must trouble you with an old man’s wheezing waffle before we sink our teeth into our delicious feast. What a year it has been! Hopefully your heads are all a little fuller than they were … you have the whole summer ahead to get them nice and empty before next year starts …’
And what a read-along it has been. It’s been a delight to read through your thoughts as you revisited the first book and to get to know Harry’s classmates a little better through your imagination. A massive thank you to everyone who took part. :D
Another massive thank you to the Book Club team who helped make all this possible, particularly Prof. Amy Lupin who not only created the gameboard for us but also custom coded some nifty tools so we could keep track of all those dice rolls and moves.
Now, we’re not awarding the house cup like Prof. Dumbledore in the scene quoted above but we do have some prizes and kudos to hand out.
First off, congratulations to River Fenwick and Prof. Will Lestrange who managed to reach the end of the board in 15 and 17 rolls respectively! And well done to Luna Ravenlong for making it all the way to square 49.
It’s also my pleasure to hand the Flying Key award to the following people for completing at least 12 tasks:
Luna Ravenlong (18)
Prof. Scarlet Leslie-Lewis (12)
Prof. Will Lestrange (18)
River Fenwick (18)
And lastly, beans (and not of the earwax flavoured variety) are on their way to everyone who took part. If you spot any miscalculations, please let me know and I’ll look into it for you.
Once again, thanks to everyone who joined us and made this so magical!

I really enjoyed reading all the character scenarios and stepping into the shoes of Padma Patil. The board was beautiful and I'm glad I hit a special space, even though it made me go backwards. Thanks for running such a fun activity (and dealing with my puzzle sprint at the end)!
