Welcome to our read-along of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone!
This is a read-along with a difference. As well as reliving the magic of the first book and sharing your thoughts, we’ll also be inviting you to step into the shoes of one of the characters and play your way through a PS inspired board game.
Each Saturday we’ll release a discussion task (where you can share your thoughts about the chapters we’re reading that week), a character task (where you’ll be invited to respond to a prompt as your assigned character) and a puzzle task. Completing each of these will earn you beans, dice rolls for the board games and the chance to earn the shiny “Flying Key” award. You’ll need to complete 12 tasks out of a possible 18 to scoop the award.
The activity will run for 6 weeks, with everything due on the 31st of May at 11:59 PM HOL-time. You can sign up and join in at any point before the end (although if you leave it until an hour or two before the deadline, we can’t promise you’ll get your character assignment in time, though we’ll do our best!).
If you have difficulty completing any part of the activity for accessibility reasons, please let us know and we’ll work out an alternative that suits you better.
Timeline:
April 14: Sign ups open.
April 19: Week 1 posted. Chapters 1-3.
April 26: week 2 posted. Chapters 4-6.
May 3: Week 3 posted. Chapters 7-9.
May 10: Week 4 posted. Chapters 10-12
May 17: Week 5 posted. Chapters 13-15
May 24: Week 6 posted. Chapters 16-17.
May 31: Everything due.
