Heist Movies

We all know heist movies. There's a great mastermind who schemes an entertainingly complex and brilliant plan, finds a team to execute said plan, and lays it all out for them and for us. They do the heist, face unexpected bumps in the road, and we wait to see whether they get away with the loot.

It's probably my favourite (sub)genre of movie. I love to guess how the plan will come together or fall apart, and most of the time, I even root for the criminals.

I've recently watched Den of Thieves (2018) since its sequel became available online. While it's not as clever as ones like Inception, and Ocean's Eleven, and the ending twist is a little unbelievable from what it's shown us, I still quite enjoyed it.

What are your favorite heist movies? What elements do you think make them so exciting? Do you enjoy movies where the heist succeeds, or do you prefer ones where things go terribly wrong?
