Sleepless In Seattle

Post by Prof. Tarma Amelia Black »

I just watched Sleepless in Seattle, with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan playing Sam and Annie. I knew it contained a lot of references to An Affair to Remember with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. I recognized a lot of the Seattle landmarks and even some of the streets! I watched it twice, once to simply watch the movie and then again to catch the writer's commentary, look at the locations for the different scenes, and just enjoyment of Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan.

But ... and the reason for me writing ... did anyone see this movie and notice Jessica, the friend of Jonah (Sam's son)? Each time I saw Jessica, I was all .... "THAT'S HERMIONE." Bushy brown hair, incredibly intelligent and the way she would look at someone and speak ...

Hermione. :)

I have seen Sleepless in Seattle hundreds of times (Tom Hanks is my favorite actor), but I have never picked up on the whole Jessica character while watching the movie. Now, thinking back to it, I totally agree with you on how she is extremely similar to Hermione's character! I feel the need to watch the movie again just to pay attention to Jessica's character a bit more! :P
