Enderlynn Rose Danderfluff

Post by Enderlynn Rose Danderfluff »

Enderlynn : I have a family relative named Edelynn. Her name is half of her Daddy and half of her Mummy. I thought about her name, and brainstormed with it awhile. Then I came up with Enderlynn. I especially like the Lynn in the end. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

Rose : In RL I have two first names, so I thought I would add a second name to my HOL name also. I first thought of May, or An (Ann/Anne), but that would be too common, and roses are my favorite types of flowers.

Danderfluff : A friend of mines was obsessed with LoTR, and she found websites that would translate your name into Elvish or Hobbits-ish(?). She sent me the links, and I translated my name for the heck of it. The original translated name was Tiger Lily Danderfluff, but since I already had my two first names, I decided to just use the last one.

Well after exstensive pondering of about 20 mintues of my name, I looked online at a name database of Russian names and i liked Dimitra (Russian version of the Greek Demeter) and it meand light or life. Raskolnikov is a Russian character from a book i was read for English class (Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky which happens to be one of my favorite books) and i wanted my character to be Russian so i picked it. (plus it sounds exotic hehe)

To tell you the truth, I have absolutely no idea where my name came from. It sorta just popped into my head, believe it or not. Which is weird considering that I usually think really hard about my forum names but this isn't the case for Namia........

Well, I was playing Diablo II one day an wanted a new name for my sorceress an I really liked the name Star, but that seemed sooo original, so I kinda played around with it till I found a name that sounded unique an, well, nice too.

My last name's kinda funny...I was trying to think up one an i think one of my friends from school has the last name of Tribel, so I just spelled it to my liking! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

I was in Florida visiting my grandparents, and I was reading this book..."Spindle's End" by Robin McKinley (great book, by the way). In it, one of the main character's real name was Sophronia but she never used it. I loved that name, so I decided to use it as well. Bradenton came from...well, if you've ever been to Florida, there's Sarasota-Bradenton airport, and I thought it would make a great last name /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Ariek Caniam

Post by Ariek Caniam »

Sadly, my name origins aren't nearly as exciting as they could be - in fact, it's downright cheesy.

I went to go join a Fantasy RP, and wanted to use a new character I had been pondering over. The only problem was, I didn't have a name for her - and I dislike using my online name, Keira - for RP's, it's a just a little thing of mine. So, I hovered over the keyboard - Amber! No, too perky. Kayla? No, too real life. Molly...Mary...MEGAN...No, no, and no. Blanking out creatively, I bailed and just hammered in my online name backwards - Ariek entered the scene in a black cloak.

As for the Caniam part, that's part typo and part cheesy.

I was joining a Hogworts RP, and had become fond of the name Ariek - though she had changed from a aloof bounty hunter to a somewhat-prissy school girl. When I glanced at the sign ups requirements, I realised everyone was using full names - and Ariek didn't have one! Dang.

I figured I might as well go for the backwards word thing again, and kept typing in words I saw and flipping them backwards. Then I saw the word 'Maniac', and flipped it - Cainam! Looks kind of like a real name to me, I'll use it! Halfway through the RP, though, I mispelled Cainam - and it became Caniam unconsciously.

Maniac Keira backwards, er, sort of. XD

My first name comes from a trilogy called The Fionavar Tapestry, written by one of my favourite authors Guy Gavriel Kay. Fionavar is actually the name of the land, but I've always really liked it.
My sister suggested my last name. Her HOL name is Sierra Sky, and she thought it would be cool if we had the same last name. Since I didn't have a last name picked out already, I went with that.

I just went though all 20 pages of this thread...only to realize: I never replied!!! *gasps*

ANYwho...I wasn't very original on my name; however, the entire idea was sparked by the rumors that Prof. Snape *might* be a vampire. And that clicked in my head and the genesis for 'character concept' popped into my head:

Angelus: This was actually the character name for the leading man/vampire that was first introduced on Buffy: The Vampire Slayer. That actor, David Boreanaz, was quite a piece of eye candy, and caught my eye. [[Oh, and HOW he caught my eye...]] ANYwho...I was always enthralled with the flashback sequences that Angel had...back to the 'good old days' when he was Angelus. And thus...Angelus was reborn.

Darklost: This is actually the title of a book by Mick Farren. This was the first book by the author that I read (only to later realize it was the sequel)...and I was enthralled by the concept of what a 'darklost' was: Someone who had once been brought *this* close to being turned to a vampire, and then abandoned...thus leaving them trapped between the world of the day and the world of the night. It was such a powerful concept of loss, betrayal, and insecurity...that I couldn't resist adopting it for Angelus.

And thus...Angelus Darklost was created...with all of his little quirks intact: the flight of fancy, the interest in the Dark Side, the meloncholy and mood swings, the vampiric thrill, and a whole lot of soul searching.

Melisande is a character in a trilogy that I adore... she is the villain, but she just rocks. I like her and I like the way it sounds. Talbot is the surname of two of my favourite fictional people.

Well, the storyof my name isn't as interesting as others. I'm a proud Lord of the Rings freak and I absolutely admire Tolkien's elves. Well, sometime within the past two years I stumbled upon a site of some kind promoting a code for changing your name into elvish.

I didn't believe it was true elvish (because that I was trying to learn...unfortunately I never tried for long) but I tried it out anyway and used it for a character I created in one of my many unfinished fanfiction stories.

The code (which I've totally forgotten), in some way, made you use certain letters in your full name to give you your first elven name. You then thought of some happening of nature and used that as your last name [such as "Greenleaf" for Legolas] so, I picked Softrain.

That's the story, and the product: Rireoosol Softrain

Here's how to pronounce it: "Ree-ray-oo-sol"
Ri: "Ree" - as in "read"
re: "ray" - as in "ray" (obviously)
oo: "oo" - such as the oo in "Google"
sol: "sol" - as in sold (minus the d) or sol, the spanish word for sun.

Softrain is pretty easy: "Soft-rain" just like words.

Haha /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

Adessi Praetor

Post by Adessi Praetor »

I kind of thought up the name Adessi on my own -- I'd never seen/heard it anywhere before -- and I really wanted to be original. I'm also into ancient civilizations, like Greece and Rome, and a "praetor" in Rome was kind of like an official. I just thought it was a cool word, I dunno.

My last names not that original /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" /> you'll all notice that one. My first name is actually my real name, its from a famous cricketer, Hedley Howith or something /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
Anyway...just a tip on how to say it properly, you smile when you say the 'Hed', then semi-smile when you say the 'ley' /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

I chose mine for an online fantasy game. Nebel because I speak just a small bit of Germain and it means fog or mist and my name is Misty. Murdehoffe had to do with the game and it really fit the character.

Doverai Hitoya

Post by Doverai Hitoya »

Hmmm...Doverai Hitoya. Yep. That's my name. -Grin-

Well...Dove came from the fact that I was taking a shower and using that 'Dove' face wash jargon. I liked the symbol, and while I was roleplaying 'Dove' kinda fell out of my fingers. Thus she was born.

I got bored of just being called 'Dove', it always seemed to...sharp to me for some reason. So I used 'Rai', derived from the Japanese word 'Raito'. A noun, meaning 'Light'.

So I went from Dove of Night (Fanfiction.net -sweatdrop-), to Lady Doverai. Then Someone asked me for a last name.

...I never use my real last name, and Kavanaugh (Doverai's mom's surname, My grandma's surname) seemed wrong for 'Doverai', which had far to much of a Japanese flair to fit properly with an Irish last name.

So I lunged for my Japanese dictionary and rooted for words. 'Hito' came from 'Human Being', and 'Ya' meaning 'Arrow'.

Thus the full 'Doverai Hitoya' was born. So essentially, her name means 'White bird of light, Human Being Arrow'. Lovely. -Pause-...I actually never broke it down fully before...lol. ^-^

So, yeah. That's my -air quotes- 'facinating' story. /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
