What Is In A Name?

Tamica was the name a friend gave me long ago.
She was a character in the Wheel of Time, a Queen.
(Arthur Hawkwing's second wife for those who ahve read it, but she's mentioned only in an extra-book not in the serie itself.
I really like the name and it#s my internet-identity since I got it.
I once heard that Tamiko is Japanese and means queen of the people(please tell(pm) me if you know better) and amica is Latin and means friend.

My last name is also from the Wheel of Time. There are kind of witches(but they don't like to be called so) named Aes Sedai. And they all have Sedai as surname. Someone told me Sedai was an Indian name- but I didn't find something about it... so tell me if you know, please?

I took my name from a book I read to or three years ago. I like to read books and Alanna was a main character in a book of Tamora Pierce, one af my favourite writers.
First I wanted to name myself knight Alanna but I didn't think it was a godt name to hol so I took the writer's lastname and sat it after Alanna.

Hi this is Windelo Wolf and I got my HOL Name from no where in particular. Obviosly Wolf is the animal and I used it because i really like wolfs. Windelo dosnt mean anything i just thought it went good with Wolf. Sindor helped me think up the first name.

Samantha Sylvia Scott, all the words begin with 'S'.

So, when you say it out loud, your hiss slightly. Being a Slytherin was planned from the get-go.

Oh gee, my story is pretty boring, I am actually using my real life name. The reason for this is that I couldn't think of anything else and I really didn't want to end up calling myself Hermione, or having Potter, Weasley or Granger as sirname. At that point, I felt it lacked originality. No offence to those who did it though!

hehe, I didn't choose my name ... my parents chose my name =) Miranda LaLonde is my name in real life, as well as online *ggls* - how uncreative am I? Actually I thought we were supposed to use our real names and everyone here just happened to have really cool/interesting ones! At another fansite my name is Eilonwy ... named after one of my fave characters from the Prydain Chronicles by Lloyd Alexander ... ahh, the classics never die. ^_________^

I love Astrology, Astronomy and Mythology .. so I choose my name based on my passion for these subjects.

My first name Andromeda :
This name means "Princess of Ethiopia". In Greek mythology, the wife of Perseus. She was the daughter of King Cepheus and Queen Cassiope of Joppa in Palestine (called Ethiopia). After her death she became a constellation.

My middle name (don't use often at HOL) Zavijah:
This is a star in the Virgo constellation and Virgo is the name of my street. (how fitting that I live in a neighborhood that is based on Astrology and Astronomy)

My last name Black:
Well, my favorite character in PoA is Sirius Black. Also black is one of my favorite colors to wear (shirts mainly) /cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" />

Oh, my name. The easier to start with is my last name, which is vom Lehn in real, too. It's a german one.
And my first name... It's latin and means witch and poisonmaker. I chose it more than one year and a half ago, when I was in a german hp-fc and wanted to have a nick for the chat. I wanted to have something that has to do with magic, and so I looked it up in my latin dictionary and there it was: venefica. Since then I really got used to it, so half a year later, I chose it as my HOL name, too.

I love the name Ashlee and i chose Sully...........well i have no idea i was going to have Black cause Sirius is my favourite character but I read the thingo wrong and thought you couldn't have HOL names, then i read it properly and it was too late to change. Can you change your name??

When I signed up for HOL, I thought it would be one of those stupid ones where there are five people, and the only thing that happens is that you got your name put on a cobb-job tipod site. I wish I put more time into a better name...

I don't really have a big history behind my name...
I took it because my name is Hanna and I've never been caled anything else, so I took my firstname Hanna. My favourite animals have always been birds because their are beautiful, clever, they can fly and they've both soft wings and sharp claws. the white dove stands for peace, witch I love. White is also my favourite color...
So Hanna*Dove.
The star is there because I wanted to bee special. I like the stars, so close and so far away, mysterious.

Hi!
I first choose Assja as a name in a living history group (ever heard about SCA?) it's the Russion version of Anastasia and I just liked it. Later it became my "normal" Alias on the net and got mispelt because I only remembere the sound and not the spelling (it should have only one "s" ).
Brown I choose becaused I wanted a charactrer from the book but no big one. And I liked the name.
