Hmmm.. i'm not sure if i answered this post already.. but anyway..

My first name of Claidissa I had chosen from the main character in the book Wolf Tower by Tanith Lee. She's mostly called Claidi though, and I thought that was really ugly so I used Claidissa instead.

My surname comes from my love of Dragons. I think they're so beautiful and fascinating, despite the fact they'll burn you to a crisp /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />. I didn't just want to use "Dragon" because it sounds kinda weird with my first name so after thinking a while I came up with "Dragonheart" lol

How I choose my name was actually quite simple. I first wanted my character to look like me but I thought well I've always watched green eyes. Like I've been even thinking about getting coloured contacts just for the fun of it. So well I thought that my character could have green eyes so that is where I got Emerald from, Emerald goes with her eyes. Then the last name was my old best friends name and well Tippet reminded me of a hobbits last name. *laughs* (she was also quite small) Well so I thought well it sounds kind of magical so I used that as my last name. So my name came to be Emerald Tippet. I then also thought that I should have a nic name so I have people call me, Emmy for short. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Wow... I can't believe I haven't responded to this before now! Nevermind... will now!

Michelle - My wonderful first name. *g* My all-time favorite TV show, other than Charmed, is Sailor Moon. I immediately fell in love with Sailor Neptune because she loves the ocean, plays stringed instruments, collects cosmetics, is just an overall real lady. In the Japanese version, her name is Michiru, but in English Dubbed, she's Michelle. I like Michelle much better, so there you have it!

Gender: Female
Meaning: Who is like God?
Origin: French

Marie - Quite boring, my real middle name.

Gender: Female
Meaning: Bitter Sea
Origin: French

Scott - My mother's maiden's name. Boring there too.

So two of my names are French, and one Celtic. =)

Michelle, one of the things that draws me to you is that I once knew a girl called Michelle Scott.. *will edit once she figures out if she has posted in here or not* But really, some of these names are lovely, and I'm adding them to my collection..

EDIT: And I haven't! What a delightful surprise! Okies, my orgin is really long and wierd, but that's really okay.. here I go /happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

Ella.. my first name. It comes from the full "Elanor". Elanor is a flower from Lord of the Rings. I thought it was pretty. Elanor is pronounced "Uh-lay-nor", not to be confused with "El-uh-nor", the more commonly used, though I think that name is beautiful, as well. Ella is also the main character in one of my favourite books, Ella Enchanted.

Dowling I just thought up sometime after I started reading the Harry Potter books. Pretty simple, unlike my other names, and fairly common. Pronounced "Dow (as in ow!) - ling (as in ring)".

Middle names, I have two. Their origin isn't that long, but I saw it in a book called Nissa's Place, and thought that it wa sperfectly lovely.

Lily Maeve, my two middle names came out of that book, Nissa's Place. She was the newborn stepsister of Nissa, the main character. I thought the name was beautiful, so I adopted it.

I'll do some more research on Elanor for you..I haven't read abotu it for a while, anyways. I'll edit again when I do /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

EDIT: Okies, I'm back again. Elanor was the first-born daughter of Sam Gamgee and Rosie Cotton. The name Elanor means "Sun Star" and is a Lorien flower. There's a lot more info about the daughter of Sam, but I won't bore you. /happy.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="^_^" border="0" alt="happy.gif" />

Forever,

-~Ella

I coulda sworn I posted here before O.o Oh well, I went through the whole thing

My name's Eliana Kathryn Dallas Cera Morrison, and thats the longest I hope to make it /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />

Eliana - In 5th grade, one of my friends told me they'd signed me up for a Harry Potter website(not this one, of course). Aaand he told me the name was 'Leana'. Lets just say I've loved it since. But how did Leana become Eliana? Well, I make dolls, and I went through a phase where I wanted to be odd and name them all. Soo I named one Eliana(dont ask the other, something with a C). And then one day I realised that Eliana and Leana were reeally close in name. And since I love longer names, and making nicknames out of names, Eliana was born XD

Kathryn - I've always loved the name Katherine, I just dont like it spelled that way(since most I know are spelled that way). Plus I like y's

Dallas - Another one of my weird name phases. I had a little girl in my VIP room at Church named Dallas, and I loved her name. So when we went on Vacation to Tennessee, I started writing down all the cities we passed, in case I liked them. So now I like Atlanta, Memphis, and Dallas XD I'm weird, yes. Tampa sometimes too. But Dallas has always been my favourite.

Cera - Sarah -> Sara -> Cera. Yeah. Except I also chose this name when I looked on the back of a ...whats it called? The Dinosaur series where they're journeying to the new world or something? I'm having memory failure. But I used to love it so much. And the girl somethings name was Cera. I always thought it was Sara. Sooo I liked her, and I like the spelling Cera, soooo

Morrison - I have a love for M-last names. My RL last name starts with an M too. And its similar to Morrison. So I wanted an M last name, and I was thinking of all the M last names I could think of. So, someone at church has the last name Morris. But Leana Morris didn't sound right, so I changed it to Morrison.

Yes, I am odd XD But if I could change my name, I'd change it to Sepia Memoise, my new name obsession XD

Well...the name of Lunayleen came from Luna (moon in spanish, in case some of you didn't know I'm from Puerto Rico and because I have a scar of a waning moon in my left leg hehe) ...Leen because my RL name is Eileen...then I added a y and form the name of Lunayleen.
My last name of Weasley, well because some of my favorite characters are the Weasley's...I think they're really funny.

Ian Grant

Post by Ian Grant »

I have always harbored a fascination for the name "Ian". I could never quite believe that you could wring so many different sound changes from just three letters. And I think that, like most things, it souds good in the mouth of a native Briton.

And since I had decided on "Ian" for my little pre-pubescent English boy, I had to have a similarily paired last name. Grant is a straightforward, stiff-upper lip kind of name. Also, Duncan Grant was supposedly the cutest one of the Bloomsbury Group.

Sedona Cassidy Quinlan

Post by Sedona Cassidy Quinlan »

This is my first post, a sort of introduction...

My HOL full name is Sedona Cassidy Quinlan... you could call me Donnie for short. I know it's kinda masculine (the nickname) but i'm a girl. I chose Sedona because I've always like that name. It actually comes from Sidonie Maria Colette who's a feminist French writer. But some of you might recognize it is a name of a beautiful and spiritual town in Arizona. Cassidy is from the western movie with robert redford if i'm not mistaken. And Quinlan shows my Irish side...

*huggles Sedona* Welcome to HOL!

My name comes from Romeo and Juliet (but I changed it to Juliette because I like it more /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" /> ), the timeless classic of love and death. I love the book, so I chose the name!

de Winter comes from my favorite novel, Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier. It may be creepy and downright scary in places, but it is wonderfully written! I encourage you all to read it. de Winter is the last name of Max, one of the main supporting characters.

*huggles everyone*

Julz, my nickname, comes from Dolly. *lol dolly*

hmmmm...
I beleive I have already posted here, but I did some small little explanation about my name. I'd like to continue it in this post.

Ella, was my original forum name. According to the babynames site, Ella 'She' in Spanish. I really like that, gives it a feminine touch. But once I changed it to Eleanor it now means 'Light.' Heh.

My middle name is Roselyn and I love that name. My forum name at the old HOL forum was Rose, and I guess It always kind of stuck...Roselyn means 'Fair Rose' which I also like a lot. But on this one name site it meant 'Red Haired' <_<

Chambers. Haha...Well, most think that Chambers derived from 'The Chamber of Secrets.' But it didn't, let me assure you. I was sitting here trying to find a name to sign up with and I couldn't think of anything. I wanted it to sound Harry Potter-ish so I just blurted out Chambers. Sounded cool, so I used it. Didn't realize until after that it looked like I took it from the second book.

So...there you have it.

I can't believe I haven't posted here already. Oh well, I'll do it now instead /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

When I picked my HOL name, I wanted something a bit different and definitely something that did not sound English. So I was looking through lots of name lists for different countries, and I was mostly looking at Slavic and Albanian names, because I'm so fascinated by those languages in general. Especially Slavic languages. However, most Slavic names were so "normal" to me that I ended up looking more closely at the Albanian lists instead. The Albanian language had so many interesting names, and I remember considering some other names too. In the end, my choice was between Shukurije and Ardita. I figured that Shukurije might be too long, complex and foreign-sounding, so I ended up choosing Ardita.

However, I haven't been able to find out what the name means. I have seen someone saying that it might be related to Latin "ardere" which means "to burn". I also know that it is a last name in some countries, because some people have been sending me emails asking if I was their distant relative. Those people have been quite surprised when I told them what I knew about the name, the fact that it is a first name in Albania and not to mention the fact that it isn't even my real name.

My last name is much easier to explain, and I didn't put much thought into choosing that one, really. "Mar" means "sea" in Spanish I think, and the name was the first one that popped into my head when choosing a name. So it's not nearly as interesting as my first name.

Well, I used to be student Lizzie Ferret. I chose Lizzie, proabbly because I always wanted to be called Elizabeth, and somewhere in my head I had this random connection with Ferrets and Weasles, Weasley etc. But ultimately I liked the mundaness of Lizzie Ferret, it's fairly ordinary.

But then I become a Professor, and er, Professor Ferret? I think not! So I chose Angela Amaunet. Angela is my first name, I came to wish I'd chosen that form the beginning as I was getting confused as to whether I was Liz or Angela! Amaunet; she was an Egyptian Godess associated with 'hidden things' and that apealed to me and my personality.
