December – Tropical Birds

As an alternative to owls, some places use their other natural fauna to deliver mail. Harry Potter used to get mail from Sirius Black delivered by colorful tropical birds, which led Harry to believe that Sirius was hiding in warmer climates. They were larger than owl and Hedwig disapproved of them, thinking them 'flashy intruders'.

Your task is to find another type of bird or other flying animal (magical or muggle) and tell me in 100 words, why do you think it would be perfect for delivering Wizarding mail. All general HOL rules apply.

For 15 Hoots and 15 beans, post your choice below as a reply to this thread by December 31st 11:59 pm HOL time at the latest.

I think the chicken (if spelled to fly) would be excellent to deliver messages. Why? Well, for one, chickens are seen and live in practically all parts of the world, thus making them inconspicuous. Also, chickens are fairly good at defense and attack, especially if its a rooster that shall fly. There are also a lot of breeds and colourings of the chicken/rooster. Finally, not only do they make great carriers of messages, but they are also useful for food. Magical folk will have some extra food and be able to have a great post office in one bird. Although they are not the most aerodynamic creatures, their commonality and ability to hide in plain sight makes them excellent letter-carriers.
