As I said over on Quill and Ink, the objects your character has around them can tell a reader (and you) a lot about them in a very subtle way. And as we’re a Book Club and rather that way inclined, I thought we could try doing this through books.
For this final exercise, please design a bookshelf belonging to your character. It could feature actual books or fitting ones that you make up. It could also feature other items you think your character would keep there. Try to factor in details like how old or well-read the books are. If your character isn’t a big reader or doesn’t live in a place where books are a thing, then try to construct a shelf you think would appeal to them or that is full of books that you think would do them the most good.
Your work needs to be original: taking something off the internet and claiming it as your own is plagiarism. Remember to keep everything HOL appropriate, adhering to all HOL rules, and please keep your submissions 600x600 pixels or smaller. Please also include a short description of your image.
You'll earn 20 beans for completing this prompt as well as it counting towards the chance to snag our shiny Ink Splatters Award.
There is no deadline as such for these prompts but if you’d like it to count towards your chance of earning the award for a specific year, we’ll need it by the end of that school year. If you’re comfortable sharing, then post below. If not, email your image and description to us via hol.bookclub @ gmail.com (without the spaces).

This is Dibyarup James Potter's shelf, and it houses his books, some of the notable ones being: "Curses and Counter Curses", "Basic Hexes for the Busy and Vexed", "The Dark Forces: A Guide to Self Protection", "Advanced Potion-Making", "The Book of Charms and Spells", "A Beginner's Guide to Transfiguration", and "A Guide to Advanced Transfiguration".
Other than that, there is also a new set of books tied together with a string from the Flourish and Blotts, which he has not untied yet. Additionally, there is a golden metal ball beside an old human skull that he bought from the Borgin and Burkes, because he thought it could come in handy for a future Transfiguration experiment. There are also some potions he brewed, that are arranged neatly on the bookshelf. On the lowest shelf, he has kept his trophies from school competitions and other events that he has participated in outside school.
Atop the bookshelf, he has displayed his extensive collection of gorgeous snow globes.
