World-Building 2: Bricks and Mortar

Knowing where your settlements are in relation to one another is great. However, you also need to know what they look like. What shape and how tall are the buildings, how wide are the streets, what building materials are commonly used and is there any decoration to speak of? You’ll probably also need to know what at least some of the buildings you describe are like from the inside.
While this is something you can decide as you go along, it is also something you might want to think about in conjunction with the cultures that exist in your world. You can use architecture to give your settlements character of their own, as well as telling us something about the people who live there and what they value.
You can do this prompt one of several ways: you can give us an annotated plan of one of the buildings in your world or an exterior and interior view (such as a picture of the front of the building and another of a room to be found inside).
It could be a dwelling place or a more public building, it’s totally up to you, though please include a line or two as to what the building’s purpose is.
Note: Though I’ve been using the term building, if your world uses more natural structures or something totally different (like the inside of a space station), then adapt the prompt to fit.
Your work needs to be original: taking something off the internet and claiming it as your own is plagiarism. Remember to keep everything HOL appropriate, adhering to all HOL rules, and please keep your submissions 600x600 pixels or smaller. Please also include a short description of your image.
You'll earn 20 beans for completing this prompt as well as it counting towards the chance to snag our shiny Ink Splatters Award.
There is no deadline as such for these prompts but if you’d like it to count towards your chance of earning the award for a specific year, we’ll need it by the end of that school year. If you’re comfortable sharing, then post below. If not, email your image and description to us via hol.bookclub @ gmail.com (without the spaces).
