This month we’re peering back into the mists of memory. Memoirs, auto biographies and biographies can be wonderfully rich books. They are the perfect way to get to know fascinating people and also to find out about times and places we can’t experience any other way. They can be a challenge to write though. Not only do you have to make the past come alive but you also have to pick the events that are going to appeal most to people reading.

For this prompt, we’d love for you to write a 200 word snippet of autobiography, memoir or biography. It could be a tiny part of your story, the story of someone you find interesting or even something written from the perspective of a fictional character. Remember, you need to write it as though you’re looking back while also trying to make it real for your reader.

You’ll earn 20 beans for completing this prompt as well as it counting towards the chance to snag our shiny Quill and Ink award.

There is no deadline as such for these prompts but if you’d like it to count towards your chance of earning the award for a specific year, we’ll need it by the end of that school year. Oh and remember it’s a good idea to check through your piece carefully for spelling and grammatical errors as they make it harder for people to properly enjoy your work.

Fang is a part dog, part giant. He's a giant puppy. Fang was so big that no one wanted him. So, Fang went and explored. He went through the thickest forest with the creepiest animals ever. He wasn't scared because they were scared of him because he was so big. They were little creepy animals. There was a maguga creature that has a face of a troll and a body of a monkey. When Fang saw it, he barked at it and snapped his puppy teeth. He also encountered the gragra monster that has a face of a lion and a body of a very small giant. Fang showed his teeth and the creature did not get out of his way. So, Fang ran at it and bit its ear off. Then he encountered a unicorn, which turned into a girl in a unicorn costume. She helped Fang get through the forest but, on the other side, the girl disappeared. Fang saw his mommy and ran over and licked her. Then he ran all the way to Hogwarts where one day Hagrid found him. Hagrid took Fang to his cabin. When they got inside, Fang got up on his hind legs and tried to lick Hagrid's face but he couldn't reach. Then Hagrid picked him up and gave him a hug and let Fang lick his face. Then, Fang fell asleep with a mandrake squeaky toy in his mouth and Hagrid holding him. The mandrake toy was made by Hannah Lovegood just for Fang because technically Hannah found Fang first.
