Virtual Reality

I'm quickly becoming a fan of these virtual reality books. One book which you may have heard of already is Ready, Player, One and that lead me to starting the Last Reality series by Jason Segel and Kirsten Miller. I read OtherWorld this summer and waited patiently for OtherEarth which I finally finished tonight. Now I'm trying to wait patiently for the final book which comes out this fall.

OtherEarth starts off a few days after OtherWorld ends. The Company is still around and have come up with a new virtual reality game that allows reality and the virtual world to coexist. Simon and his friends must travel through OtherWorld once more to find the man who may have the answer to everything. The book is fast paced and the ending has me thinking up so many different scenarios of possibilities. It's a major twist and one that has me eager to know more. The things that can be done with technology are terrifying and the imagination is endless.

What are your thoughts on books based around virtual reality? Are you into them or are they just not for you?

I actually have OtherWorld on hold right now and I cannot wait! Virtual reality seems like such an interesting topic, and so useful to humanity. I love reading books that explore this quite new idea and it sometimes feels so much like science fiction until you realize: this could happen, this is already happening.

All in all, virtual reality books are slowly becoming less of science fiction an more of reality which is both scary, yet also extremely awesome. I am so happy humanity has created such a wonderful thing.

For a book that is "kind of" virtual reality, I would suggest Neuromancer. Its fairly famous, mostly for beginning the cyberpunk genre but I really liked it and would put in "under virtual reality"
