Summary from Goodreads
In the summer of 1996, two boys run from a playground into the adjoining woods, but only one comes out. As London prepares to host the Euros, Thorne fights to keep on top of a baffling investigation while also dealing with the ugly fallout of his broken marriage.

My Thoughts:
I’m a big fan of this author and have read several of his previous books. This definitely lived up to my expectations and I enjoyed reading about his early career and his first meetings with characters that are well established in previous books.
Each chapter was from a different characters perspective which gave a good insight into their thoughts throughout the story. I didn’t see the ending coming which is always a sign of good writing.
Could have done with slightly less football talk though.
