Book Review - Darius The Great is Not Okay

Summary:
Darius goes to visit his family whom he has never met in Iran. While there, he finds himself enjoying being around people that he never had an attachment to before and he begins to feel like he really belongs. He meets a boy there named Sohrab and they become close friends. Darius didn't have many friends back in America, and he finally has a place to belong.

Thoughts:
This isn't really the genre I usually go for, but we had it and I thought I'd change it up a bit. I really enjoyed this book, though it was a bit slow at some points as we were following Darius through many different events that for the most part weren't fast paced. Khorram does a great job showing the internal struggles of Darius who is dealing with depression and finding a place to fit in. It was a slow book, but a very deep book that really left the reader with something to think about at the end. Everything didn't go as planned as most books do and it felt very realistic.
