The Martian - Andy Weir

Post by Louis Walles »

Title of the book: The Martian
Authors: Andy Weir
Genres: Fiction, adventure

Short summary of the story:

Mark Watney is a botanist. And he works for NASA. During a mission on Mars, he nearly dies in a dust storm and his crew is forced to evacuate and leave him alone. Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to contact Earth and let them know he's alive. And even if he could contact them - he won't be able to survive that long. But Mark doesn't want to give up. Will his skills help him to overcome the impossible odds against him?

Good points / bad points:

I bought the book after I watched the movie. The movie for me was 10/10 and I was so happy when I found the book for just £2 (the regular price is £10). As soon as I got home, I started to read. And this is where my enthusiasm went down. The book was full of information and equations that you will understand only if you know physics and chemistry. It was rather hard to read the book, but you could see some resemblance to the movie. I give this book 5/10.
