Book Review: Big Water

This story is a fictional story based on the real life SS Asia and the aftermath of it's sinking in 1882. This story follows Christina McBurney, after she runs away, after her twin brother Johnathan's death by consumption. She boards a boat (called Asia) to go to Sault Ste. Marie. She is running away from her family. She is running away because she believes they can't stand to have her around after her brother's death. The main part of the story focuses on the aftermath of the sinking of the boat and the struggle to survive and be rescued.

Good points / bad points:

It had a fast pace with a lot of action, due to it being a struggle for survival in the open waters of the Georgian Bay. It depicts the struggle to survive against all odds: drenched in cold water, no food, and no heat. There was a touch of romance in the book, and a lot of tragedy, which is to be expected after a shipwreck. I would have liked if the book told us more about their story after being rescued.
