Nicolette Demere is a 13 year old girl who has mastered the arts of pickpocketing. She was put into foster care after her grandma passed away and her father got put into jail. She has been to many foster families but she doesn't stick long enough. Nicki writes letters to her father, waiting for him to come pick her up but the problem is that her father does not reply to the letters. The US Marshals need the perfect girl to help a family hide from the nation's most notorious criminals. After some evaluation, they discover that Nicki is the perfect girl. In little time, Nicki makes a decision to help out the family and join the Marshals, which means saying goodbye to Nicki Demere permanently and becoming Charlotte Trevor. Can she really fit in with the family and hold the responsibilities put onto her?
This book has the perfect amount of plot twists to keep the reader on edge. It is a fun story for teens and touches the subjects of fitting in. I would recommend this for anyone who is interested in Witness Protection.
