Title: Crusade in Jeans
Author: Thea Beckman
Genres: Adventure, Historical Fiction, Sciencefiction
Summary of story:
Rudolf - or Dolf as he is usually known - is participating in an experiment involving time-travel. He is meant to travel to the middle ages to see a tournament with knights in shining armour, but there is an error in the calculations and instead he ends up at the exact time and place of the children's crusade.
Unfortunately the miscalculation also means that getting back is rather more complicated than initially expected so he has to join the large group of children.
Of course he sticks out like a sore thumb since his knowledge is vastly different from that of the people of the day; in some areas he knows nothing at all, and in others he knows far too much, which leads him to being in some rather hot water on occasion. But it also helps him give aid to the children and slowly he becomes a leader to the children.
I really like the book because it combines some of my favourite elements; science fiction, historical fiction, adventure and good characters with real personalities and real stories.
