Book Review: Orbiting Jupiter

Post by Iverian Gnash »

Title: Orbiting Jupiter
Author: Gary Schmidt
Genre: Contemporary Fiction
Summary:
Orbiting Jupiter was about a boy named Joshua who comes to live with a foster family and the story tells about all of his struggles from his foster brother's perspective. He's struggled his entire life with all sorts of problems including being sent to schools for troubled boys for things that aren't really his fault. Joshua has a daughter named Jupiter who he wants nothing more than to see and he ends up running away to find her. This book was really depressing in my opinion as there wasn't the happy ending you'd come to expect throughout the course of the story and it ended rather abruptly and came as a shock. However, it was a good read and the author did an amazing job wrapping in all the emotions tied up in such a situation into play. I'd definitely recommend this book, but beware that it's not going to be an everything-works-out-in-the-end kind of story.
