Book Review: Cinder

Book Title: Cinder
Author: Marissa Meyer
Series: The Lunar Chronicles (#1)
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy
To be honest, I'm surprised there isn't a review posted for this yet. It seems to be a rather popular book, and I am now in on the hype as well. Below is my short review on this book without giving away too much information on the plot, but trust me, the plot is great, if not a little predictable. It is a Fairy Tale Retelling of Cinderella (which is why I picked it for my book challenge I'm participating in), but there are a lot of differences from your regular Cinderella story (and I'm not just counting the Disney twist).
It took me a moment to get used to this new universe, but once I did, I fell in love with the concept. Cinder is an orphan being taken care of by her stepmother and her two stepsisters. She works as a mechanic in her own shop in order to bring an income to the family. A disease has struck the people of the Commonwealth, one that is spreading rapidly and kills quickly. Cinder finds herself caught up in the mess when someone close to her is discovered to be infected, but little to her knowledge, it is this event that changes the course of her life forever. Oh right? Did I mention that she’s a cyborg? On top of all of this, the Earthen are in the midst of trying to make a peace treaty with the Lunars so they don't have to go to war, but the Lunar Queen is not easily bargained with.
