Book Review: Lioness Rampant

Post by Shiloh Adlar »

Title of the book: Lioness Rampant
Author: Tamora Pierce
Series: Song of the Lioness (#4)
Genre: Young Adult, Fantasy

The final book in the Song of the Lioness series, and I have to admit, I am hooked on the Tortallan universe now. I plan to read the rest of the books when I have the chance. This final book was a nice ending to the series, although at the end, there was a lot of shock for certain character deaths. Although I had anticipated one, the other one, I most certainly did not. The book shifts almost suddenly (or perhaps it's because it was audio and I was multitasking, so it seemed a sudden shift to my ears), between this mysterious Claw turning people against George to take his place as the rogue. Then there is the tale of Alanna who meets this princess that was basically cast out from her own home by her father and she and others traveling with her join up with Alanna as she goes on the search for the Dominion Jewel which she hopes to bring to Jon. Alanna then discovers grave news and returns to Tortal. Eventually, the whole story collides as we see Alanna's brother Thom has resurrected the Duke of Comte and there is an all out battle to the end.

I'm almost positive that summary/review is all over the place, but for others of you that have finished this series, what did you think of the ending? Although shocked, I was happy with how things turned out for Alanna. I'm ready to read Daughter of the Lionesses as soon as I finish the next set. I want to see where her story goes from here.
