Book Review: The New Minority

Short summary of the story: This book compares the history of working class communities in Youngstown, Ohio and East London. These communities had previously been thriving during the Industrial Age, replete with all sorts of good-paying, steady jobs but when the economy shifted, the jobs and stability left... and many people in these communities no longer see any hope for the future. In this book, Gest tries to understand what's going on with these communities, what their inhabitants are thinking, and tries to make predictions for the future.
Good points / bad points: The timing of this book (he started to write it well before the political movements of 2016) shows that Gest is a master at predicting the future! We may not like what this future has to offer... but having a better understanding of how things got to be that way can't be a bad thing; right?
