Book Review - Counting by Sevens

Post by Iverian Gnash »

Title: Counting by Sevens
Author: Holly Sloan
Genre: Children’s Fiction
Series: No
Publication Date: 2013

Summary:
The story follows Willow, a child genius, whose parents die in a car crash. She goes to live with her friends who take of her while the system tries to find a home for her.

Thoughts: This was a younger book, but I’d heard about it and I wanted something lighter to read. It was actually really good for a children’s book! It wasn’t very realistic as far as what happens after the accident, but it had an expected and nice ending. I felt the characters were relatable and there were quite a few hysterical parts. Willow is a child genius who gets in trouble for scoring high on an exam that they say was a result of her cheating so she goes to see this struggling counselor who ends up helping her (a bit) along with another students family (mostly). They try to get custody of Willow, but the system won’t let them do that since they’re not related and haven’t known each other for long. Overall, a great book if you’re looking for a light read!
