Book Review: Freak the Mighty

Post by Iverian Gnash »

Title: Freak the Mighty
Author: Rodman Philbrick
Genre: YA Fiction

Summary:
Freak the Mighty was a rather short read, but really great. The story follows a boy named Maxwell as he recounts the events that happened when he met a boy with Morquio syndrome named Kevin.

They become great friends and go on a lot of 'quests' together while dealing with the troubles of life (bullies, Kevin's disease, Max's father who gets out of jail and kidnaps him).

Freak the Mighty was a great story about friendship, disability, and defying stereotypes. It ended really sadly, but was still a great story. A movie was made after the book a few years after it was published called 'The Mighty' which I only found out after finishing the book.
