Short summary of the author: I love Nafiza's history though there isn't a lot known about her yet. Nafiza was born in the tropical island of Fiji and it shows in her works especially her love of mangos! Nafiza now lives in British Columbia where she enjoys reading and writing stories full of girl power.
Here is what Goodreads has on her biography:
Nafiza Azad is a self-identified island girl. She has hurricanes in her blood and dreams of a time she can exist solely on mangoes and pineapple. Born in Lautoka, Fiji, she currently resides in BC, Canada where she reads too many books, watches too many Kdramas and writes stories about girls taking over the world. Her debut YA fantasy, THE CANDLE AND THE FLAME, was released by Scholastic in 2019.
I really enjoyed her novel. It is very Aladdin-esqe vibe. The novel takes place in the land of Noor and follows the protagonist Fatima as she learns about her interesting past and ends up involved in the middle of a battle between magical forces. The Candle and the Flame has lots of magic, djinns, and a wonderful cast of characters that keep the novel very interesting and hard to put down.
