Book Review: After the Crash

Post by Shiloh Adlar »

Book Title: After the Crash
Author: Michel Bussi
Genre: Mystery

How can I describe the amazing mystery writing of this book? I do like a good mystery, but I have generally been able to call the ending of the mystery books I read. Everything always follows some sort of similar outline. For this book, I made plenty of guessing. I kept turning the pages, speed reading almost, but not too fast in case I missed an important clue, but I needed to know the mystery of Lylie. Was she Emilie or was she Lise-Rose? None of my guesses were correct and the whole story, like most mystery novels, doesn’t appear until the very end. There are a few plot twists in this that had me changing my guess to something else, and I will admit, I came close to being right but still didn’t happen.

This book is about a plane crash and the "miracle baby" that somehow was the only survivor. There had been two babies on that plane, and the question that the world wanted to know was, which baby was it? Two families come forward and there is a legal process that decides Lylie's fate (the name she was now being called as they had no idea whether she was Lise-Rose or Emilie). When Lylie is 18, the answer becomes even more important as the detective one of the families had hired when everything began, discovers a new clue and Lylie suddenly takes off on her own.

I gave this 4/5 stars. I really enjoyed it!
