Title of the book: Red Queen
Authors: Victoria Aveyard
Series: Red Queen

Red Queen is the first book of the Red Queen series. In the book, people are divided by the color of their blood, red or silver. People with silver blood have magical powers, while people with red blood do not and are often looked down upon by people with silver blood. Mare Barrow, the main character, has red blood, but soon discovers that she has a magical power even so.

I liked that the book was interesting in all its parts. In many books, there are parts that are just boring, especially in the beginning with exposition. However, in Red Queen, even the beginning was very interesting, and there weren't any parts where I wanted to skip ahead a bit to see what would happen next; it was constantly captivating. No part felt overly drawn out. I also liked Mare's personality, for the most part. I enjoyed her wit and could really understand and empathize with any of feelings. However, I didn't like Mare's prejudice against Silvers. She felt that all Silvers were bad people, which was a generalization.
