Picture shows Ebenezer Scrooge reading a book with the words "Bah, Humbook" in quotes
Ebenezer Scrooge was not known for his Christmas cheer, but even old Scrooge cannot help but like reading!
Scrooge's story (A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens) is a redemption tale, with Scrooge being shepherded through his life by three ghosts, the Past, Present, and Future. Now, while three actual ghosts will not visit us (hopefully), I'm sure that we can all agree that books can (and do) shape us in some way. Let us travel along our own literary path, from the books we have read in the past, to the books we are reading now, and to the books yet to come.
How it works:
-The event will run for 6 weeks (November 29-January 10)
-Each week, there will be a discussion question, with alternating creative/puzzle tasks.
-Each discussion post will be worth 10 beans (minimum word count: 100).
-Each creative/puzzle task will be worth 15 beans.
-Meaning, of course, that you will have a chance to snag a whopping total of 150 beans!
-There is no sign-up necessary, and you are not required to complete all of the tasks/discussions.
-However, should you choose to do so, there is a nice, shiny award up for grabs, too!
Humbug!Graphics shows some 'music' notes / symbols for notes. (My favorite version of the story is the musical one with Albert Finney playing the lead role!)
Timeline:
November 29: Week 1
December 6: Week 2
December 13: Week 3
December 20: Week 4
December 27: Week 5
January 3rd: Week 6
Final deadline: January 10th
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to send me a forum PM (Emily Spencer). Additionally, should you require an alternative task (creative or puzzle), please feel free to send me a PM about that as well!
Here's to you, Scrooge!
"BAH, HUMBOOK!"
