Finish the Quote is a variation of Quick Quotes (which itself is based on the game Bring Your Own Book).
What we do is, once a week, give to you the beginning of a sentence, which is a quote from a book. You are invited to finish that sentence with a fragment (or complete sentence) from another book. (It can be another book by the same author, but it cannot be from the same book.)
Find a sentence fragment, and in your reply here, write it, and then write out the new, finished, 'quote'. The new sentence has to make linguistic sense, if not literal sense. Please remember, in your reply, to give us the book's name and author along with the sentence fragment!

Our first prompt for 'Finish the Quote - Take Two' is:
"He knew by now that"
The Witches of Karres by James Schmitz
You respond with something like this --
"He knew by now that ..."
"a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife."
Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
My completed new 'quote' is -
He knew by now that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.

We ask that you make all quotes HOL-appropriate and keep this in mind when choosing a book to use (though we understand that it's not always possible to pick a book that is entirely g-rated).
Participation in this activity may contribute to your chances of snagging a Book Club award AND you will receive 10 Beans when you respond within the time limit (before the next prompt is posted).
If you have any suggestions for prompts, please send us a PM here at the forum with the subject "Finish the Quote Suggestions".
