Question:
Do we have to both read or reread the book and watch or rewatch the movie again, to count for this activity?

Answer:
Yes. But since you've already read it once, it will maybe be a fast re-read (unless it's War and Peace....)? And it's a favorite movie, so watching it again, you'll be able to quote the lines as the actors say them?

There are some books that're talked about in the Book Club and discussed on the Bookshelf, that I wouldn't deem appropriate for HOL necessarily (King's works and Stardust to name a few). I'm guessing those don't count, despite them being posted about here? I'd make my discussions and posts HOL-appropriate, of course, but I thought better to ask before making any posts. I've just started reading Stardust too!

Hi Janne. Thanks for checking - it is more than a bit confusing, I know.
We strongly prefer books to be as close to HOL appropriate as possible (particularly with ones read for challenges/activities) but we're very aware that it's not always practical to balance that need with letting people discuss the books they love. So, there are definitely books mentioned/featured that aren't HOL appropriate.
We always suggest that if there's an aspect of a book that you think would be problematic for younger readers (or for anyone, really), you put a quick warning at the top. You can see an example in my review of The Belles. Obviously we'd also advise anyone (including parents of younger members) to research any book they read about here to make sure it's right for them first.
So the short answer is: do your best to pick books that aren't inappropriate for younger readers for 'Astonishing Adaptations' but if you'd really like to post about a book that you think is largely okay save for a few problem elements, put a quick warning to that effect at the top. Tarma, Emily and I are always happy to chat about a borderline book if you're not sure.
