Constant, Disappoint, Shiver
Here I am, at the South Pole on an adventure! I'm getting used to the constant, frigid cold. It's expected. I'm a little disappointed though, a shiver ripples through me regularly, in spite of my many layers of clothes, including mittens, scarves and a cap! (45 words)

Beans have been sent!
Last one for April!
This week’s words are:
Double, Tell, Station
I was at the station waiting for the train when I felt a drop fall on my shoulder. It smelled like chocolate! Another drop-blueberry! I did a double take as I looked up and saw the most incredible sight. A rainbow was melting! I tell the truth! I swear! (49 words)

“You mean to tell me it’s Kyle’s fault you threw your shoes onto the station roof?”
“He double dog dared me!”
“I don’t care if he quadruple camel challenged you.”
James gave his mum the disgusted look of all kids who are convinced adults just don’t understand the big stuff. (50 words)

‘Double your pleasure, double your fun,’ you internally hum. Unwrapping another stick of Wrigley chewing gum, you hold one ear closed while pressing a phone to the other as your mouth fills with the minty flavor.
“Tell me later,” you say. “At the station. Can’t hear a thing right now!” (50 words)

Double, Tell, Station
"Double, double, toil and trouble" she chanted, with the three of them stationed around the huge cauldron, unfortunately giggling like fiends. The curtain came down quite unexpectedly, and they were able to pull themselves together and tell their lines properly when the curtain went back up. (46 words)

Starting May off with the following words:
Dawn, Campaign, Gown
It was near dawn when she left the ballroom after the gala. She was an unwilling partner in her mother’s campaign to align her daughter with royal blood. She made a face of disgust as she looked down at her gown, resplendent with jewels. ”Oh, Mother, why me??!!” 48 words

Thorns clawed at my white gown as I tore through budded brambles, heading away from the campaign. Dawn would mean something altogether different now, but it was them who should feel uneasy. So long as I could make it to the edge of where the desert-dwellers patrolled without becoming ensnared. (50 words)

Dawn, Campaign, Gown
The campaign to gain the cooking 'crown' had started off with a dawn raid upon the chicken coop. Madly clucking hens scurried around, their fluffed up feathers resembling a multi-layered gown, as I gathered up eggs. Now to return to the kitchen and create an omelet to make people weep. (50 words)

My apologies for being late this week; r/l sort of got away from me.
This week’s words are:
Steel, Quota, Adopt
It takes nerves of steel to adopt an attitude callous enough to fulfill the daily quota set by the powers that be, no matter the cost. Smiling brightly, I rang the doorbell. “Would you like to buy some cookies?” Girl Scout cookie selling is a tough business! (47 words)

Steel, Quota, Adopt
My adopted family gathered around me, eyes gleaming. "I've steeled myself not to add to our number. My max quota for our group is five. Now, though, last night we encountered Louise and Fred. ... What shall we do?"
Mews and rumblings answered my question. "I guess we'll be seven!" (49 words)

This week’s words are:
Sun, Tycoon, Unpleasant
The midday sun beamed down, bathing the world in a blanket of unpleasant heat. None of this bothered the young tycoon as he sat comfortably in his office, balancing ledgers and profit margins, smiling with undisguised disdain at the poor cretans below, forgetting that he was once one of them. (50 words)

Re: Flash Fiction Round 3
Sun, Tycoon, Unpleasant
She had an unpleasant smile; it was one of those 'fake solicitous' things used by tycoons who attempt to control others. She'd forgotten that the tycoon ** was well versed in fakery, and this Child of the Sun smiled benignly and dismissed her and her words. "Goodbye." (46 words)
** Tycoon - a title applied by foreigners to the shogun of Japan in power between 1857 and 1868

Last round for May! This week’s words are:
Factory, Extinct, Rain
The rain was pouring down as she left the factory; her shift over at last. Braving the weather, she began the long trek home, stopping to glare at the unending concrete road splitting the dismally stark landscape. ”Oh to see a blade of grass! Extinct but never forgotten.” 48 words)

Factory, Extinct, Rain
Trotting vigorously down the roadway, toenails clicking on the rain covered asphalt, the 'extinct' Velociraptor reached the end of the roadway, where the STOP sign signaled an intersection. Turning back to the factory, she gestured 'Come on!' with her arms, signalling to the others it was safe to come out. (50 words)

Long extinct, the presence of their species remained, steadily. Well before and after the rain turned inhospitable. For better or worse, that planet was marked by the self regulating factory workers, even up until Sol’s final farewell. Surprisingly, given what a short-lived breath in time they shared there. Exceptional, really. (50 words)
