The November theme for Book Trivia Round 3 is 'History'.

More specifically, it is of the books written based on real events (real as seen by the people who wrote the books, whether or not people in later years agree that it is 'history' instead of a legend and/or slanting of what happened - for example, looking at The Iliad).

Listed below are the names of ten books, ten time periods and ten authors. Your task is to match up the book names with their time periods and their authors. You will earn 3 beans for each correct matching, for a possible total of 30 beans.

Note: The 'time period' might be of the time about which the book is written, or the date the book was published, whichever is more specific.

Books
1. Ancient Greece: A Portrait of Self and Others
2. Don Quixote
3. Genghis Khan
4. In Search of Lost Time
5. Moby Dick or The Whale
6. Pride and Prejudice
7. The Divine Comedy
8. The Iliad
9. The Republic
10. Walden

Time Periods
a. 8th century BC
b. 500-400 BC
c. 375 BC
d. 1206-1227 AD
e. 1308-1320 AD
f. 1605 and 1615 AD
g. 1813 AD
h. 1851 AD
i. 1854 AD
j. 1909-1922 AD

Authors
Dante Alighieri
Henry David Thoreau
Herman Melville
Homer
Jack Weather
Jane Austen
Marcel Proust
Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra
Paul Cartledge
Plato

Send me your match-ups in a Forum PM to earn your Beans. :D
Send them like this:
1-a-JK Rowling
2-b-Patricia Briggs
These are not necessarily correct answers.

The deadline to send in your answers is November 30th, 11:59 PM HOL-time.

For January’s book trivia, we’re stepping inside the page-turner’s pantry for a delicious, food-related quiz.

Here are 10 mouth-watering questions about food in famous books. Some you might be able to get right away, others you might need to research a little. For each one you get right, you’ll earn 2 beans (so, there are 20 on offer in total).

Send your answers to me (Prof. Sky Alton) in a private message. The deadline is 11:59 PM HOL-time on 31st January.

2. Which literary character is famous for saying ‘please sir, I want some more.’?
3. In which book did Everlasting Gobstoppers feature?
4. In ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’, what flavour was the grey Every-Flavour Bean that Ron refused to try and Harry cautiously tasted?
5. In ‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ by Lewis Carroll, what was beautifully written in currants on the cake that Alice found under a table?
6. In ‘The Hunger Games’ by Suzanne Collins, which stew did Katniss particularly enjoy when she was in the Capitol?
7. In Greek mythology, what did Persephone eat while she was in the underworld, meaning she would always have to return there?
8. In ‘Matilda’ by Roald Dahl, what did Miss Trunchbull make Bruce Bogtrotter eat in front of the entire school?

10. In ‘The Lord of the Rings’ by J. R. R. Tolkien, what was the name of the bread that the elves of Lothlorien gave to the fellowship for their journey?
