Happy Lunar New Year

Post by Galena May »

So, this was going to be my journal post in the Ravenclaw forum. Anyway, I thought the discussions area was even better, as I can interact with others here. Happy Lunar New Year everyone. In my country, it is quite a big holiday among everything else that we celebrate throughout the year.
There's something we do every New Year, set resolutions. For me, I had set a few resolutions on January 1, the new year of the gregorian calendar (and some of them were quite easy ones like prioritizing myself and keeping up with friends), and I am still looking at how they are playing out. I just realized that being able to naturally keep simple resolutions as the ones I stated also has a lot to do with how you are feeling at your stage in life and how big the expectations that you've set are. I did not set any resolutions for the Lunar New Year but just repeated my January 1 resolutions to myself yet again and treated this as a checkpoint to actually look back and ask myself how the month of January has been in terms of my resolutions and what I am still doing completely wrong and what is going right.
This is a time for celebration and to leave the past behind, leave the dregs that have still followed us into January despite our best attempts, and I wish all of you success on the same and whatever else you are doing for yourself.
I was curious to know how popular Lunar New Year is all over the world. Do you celebrate it? Is it a traditional celebration for you and your country? Do you set new resolutions on the Lunar New Year or do you just renew the ones you already made on January 1? Or perhaps, you don't set resolutions on January 1 at all, instead set them on the Lunar New Year? I would love to hear what the Lunar New Year celebration means to you. And even if you don't want to talk about these, Happy Lunar New Year. May you always remain surrounded by joy, positivity, light, happiness, harmony, and most importantly, love.

Happy Lunar New Year! My Lunar New year Resolutions are to study harder, play my guitar more, work harder and make lots of new friends. I celebrate both January 1 and Lunar New year but January 1 more.
