Ages ago, Rachel Selenia started a topic of Guess the Quote for the LoTR movies.
Prof. Rachel Selenia wrote:It's time to play a game, don't you think? :) I've decided to restart a game that was very popular when we used to play it a few years ago. It's called "Guess the Quote" and the title is pretty self-explanatory. For this round, we'll stick to the movies (Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, Return of the King).

This is how it's played:

I'll pick a quote, no more than 2-3 sentences.
The next person guesses who said it, to whom and where/in what situation.

If someone has already posted the same guess that you were going to post, please do not post it yourself. If your guess is different from ones already posted, go ahead and post it! :)

If your guess is correct, it's your turn to post the next quote.

Holtsoms - you will get 1 silmaril for each correct answer!

-----------

The first quote:

"It was just a bit of fun! Oh you're probably right, as usual."
I don't have authority to give Silmarils or anything like that, but if folks are interested, we can start a 'Guess the Quote' for the Hobbit movies! If folks reply, then, great. If not, (why not) then that is great too, just that folks aren't interested. Please wait for the person who posted the quote challenge to post that your answer is correct before continuing on. (Odds are that you know if your answer is correct, but it's good to wait for confirmation. If there is no reply saying it is correct within a day or so, poke me and I'll check it out.)

The first quote (and easy peasy to start it up):
"Wider, not shorter. Sharp enough for both of us."

Balin says this to his brother Dwalin at Bag End when the company comes to visit Bilbo and begin the quest! :D

My favourite character ... "You nearly got yourself killed!"

Thorin Oakenshield to Bilbo Baggins, at the end of the first movie: "You! What were you doing? You nearly got yourself killed! Did I not say that you would be a burden, that you would not survive in the wild and that you have no place amongst us? I've never been so wrong in all my life."

I wouldn't usually do this long a quote, but it is well, because ...

"Without the Ruling Ring of Power, the Seven are no value to the Enemy. To control the other Rings, he needs the One. And that Ring was lost long, long ago. It was swept out to sea by the waters of the Anduin."

In honour of the late Christopher Lee, this is said by Saruman to Gandalf (or the White Council) in Rivendell.

Ori said it to other small people at the table, where long fancy people with pointy ears lived.
